Lorenzo Dow Bean

Bean enlisted at Concord, NH, where this photo was taken, on September 7, 1864 and participated in at least four engagements in Virginia with the Army of the Potomac in March and April 1865. He was discharged on June 10, 1865 at Delainey House, Washington and returned home to Center Sandwich, NH. After the war he became active in the Grand Army of the Republic as Commander of the Moulton S. Webster Post 68, GAR in Center Sandwich. This CDV measures 4 X 2.5 inches and is inscribed on the back in his own hand "Lorenzo D. Bean, North Sandwich, N.H., Musician Co. C, 18 Regt. N.H. Volunteers, 1 Div., 3rd Brig., 9th Army Corp."
