Enlisted in Company B. 5th Infantry Regiment New Hampshire on 23 October 1861. He was wounded on December 13, 1862 at Fredericksburg, VA. Promoted to Full Sergeant Major on March 1, 1863. Promoted to Full Lieutenant 2nd Class on October 2, 1863(Co. C). Promoted to Full Lieutenant 1st Class on February 1, 1864 (Co. G) Killed Company B, 5th Infantry Regiment New Hampshire on June 3, 1864 in Cold Harbor, VA. He is buried in Cold Harbor Cemetery, Mechanicsville, VA. Brother of George S.
