NH4 - ……road works scatter the hash

Run No : 1188 Weather : Piss awful rain

Date : 24th November 2002 Venue/TIME : Thursley, 1 hr 15 min

Hares : Horn/One Hung Low No of Runners : 15

NH4 has had more than its fair share of fruitcakes, most of them being honoured in a traditional manner on NH4’s RA ‘Hall of Fame’ and entrance to NH4’s exclusive Home for Retired RA’s, formerly the Lithuanian Club. So once more the scene was set, this time at Thursley cricket pitch; a wet day with heavy skies forcing the meagre pack to cluster together for protection. Then as the mist rolled back from the direction of the church three figures were seen ambling towards us, rather like the ‘Batman and Robin’ classic from ‘Fools and Horses’. The RA Fairy Snow (Who else!), all in red was followed by Shrinky Dink and with the tiny legs of DoDo bringing up the rear. They had parked in the wrong place because of roadworks and were unable to join us in their vehicles.

After all this commotion Horn gave the usual disinformation before launching the pack toward the village. After a delay the first check was found by Dafadildo and we sped down a country lane into the countryside. Unexpectedly, he waited at the next one allowing Bidet the chance to call On by a graveyard before I launched us along a trail and across stiles to a road. Bidet using his local knowledge found the next check as well before I found a check leading towards woods. Soon after we followed a road to a junction and another check but progress was halted until Rent Boy, looking for trade in the trees opposite, found flour and led us down a slope to a regroup by a house. The delay allowing the SCBs to join us in good time.

With the rain falling we scampered up numerous trails up another hill until Dafadildo called On up the steepest incline of all. Old Thumper found flour at the next check and as we descended into a pine plantation I called On before Velcro(M) leading the SCBs, urged me up a steep climb the otherside. Of course I fell for it again! And Old Thumper took advantage to guide the pack along the valley bottom while I disappeared down into a clump of ferns. After a steep climb up another hill Bidet found the next check with me close at hand and I then took us across a road before losing the trail, but a recall brought us back together for a second regroup, except for Bidet who got lost.

GM JGG found the next check as we sensed the finish at hand, before I led us on a circular route across heathland and after a back check, found the last check before finding the On Inn soon after.

Down Downs by RA Fairy Snow:

Horn/One Hung Low – Hares.

Bedet – Getting lost, and SCBing in a manner that would have done Cluedo proud.

Sex Slave – Using his mobile on the run again!

Silvier Fox– Not following Petal’s instructions, and moving in.

Dafadildo – Re-christened Mary, from the film ‘ Something about Mary’ , after confessing he suffers from the FRB syndrome of being over-sexed, and using a release valve to dampen his ardour.

Velcro(M) – Once again escorting the SCBs the wrong way.

Fairy Snow – On a hill told the SCBs to beware a slope was slippery, before fallind down himself.
