Sonic Pocket Adventure is a game which no one would have predicted would have came out on SNK's handheld since it is made by Sega. However, Sega seem to have accepted that their Game Gear has flopped and so because of their good relations with SNK let them put Sonic on their system. Well that's definitely good because this is now one of the best games out on the Neo Geo.

Gameplay
Those of you who have played on Sonic on the Mega Drive will know how the game works. Sonic runs around, jumps on enemies to kill them, collects coins and reaches the end of the level. Well, it's the same here and easily the best Sonic game out on a pocket console. With endless options and the cool 3d tunnel game if you collect 50 rings in a level the game is still playable once completed. There are time trials which are fun to beat and the 3d tunnel game is not aimless, if you collect enough rings there you get an emerald and if you get all of the emeralds then it unlocks another part of the game. The link-up function is great and in my opinion the best link up feature for and game on the Neo Geo, better than SNK vs. Capcom. You can have link-up races to the end of a level or the first to collect a predetermined amount of rings. This is my favourite part of the game. Although there are only twelve levels there are bits that you don't see when you run straight through them as quickly as possible and so they are good fun to play again.

Sound
The sound here is good but nothing special. It has the famous 'Segaaaaaa' guy talking at the beginning when the game starts up which is cool.
7/10

Graphics
This game has the exact same graphics as the mega drive (genesis) and they are crystal clear. Easily the best on a pocket console. There is slow down when there are a lot of moving objects on the screen but it really isn't very annoying and only happens occasionally.
9.5/10

Overall
This is one of the best games out for the Neo Geo. Any self-respecting owner should get it now. It lasts a long time and has a bucket load of features for a handheld.
