She lends a voice to those who can't voice their problems and needs. Chittranjan Park, New Delhi resident Vandana Sengupta provides shelter to 300 animals every month. This not-so-famous animal activist started work 2 decades ago for stray animals like rabid dogs, cats, cows, buffaloes and even donkeys. She gave up her job as a school teacher to dedicate herself to the cause. She doesn't believe in talking about her own cause, "I don't think I'm doing anything which needs media attention. I'm just trying to be human.I believe all human beings should work towards a social cause. If they don't, they are not human." At 64, this fragile lady is full of grit. With her 3 colleagues, including vet Bijay Kumar, she provided shelter and relief to injured animals. Her 2-yr old organization, Sonadi Charitable Trust is also into Animal Birth Control (ABC).They work in coordination with NDMC and NGOs.

Vandana Sengupta has been working regularly with the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital for the last 18 or so years. She visits the place regularly on daily basis just for the love she has developed for the animals.About the lot she has at home, she says, "
They are like my children. Though I have help I personally tend to each one.And its something which never tires me. I get my strength from my work.I don't have the time for a setback."
