Handicap International est pr�sent aux Philippines avec 2 programmes :

• Soutien � l'association philippine pour la r�insertion des personnes handicap�es (PARDS), charg�e de la coordination des activit�s en faveur des personnes handicap�es physiques des couches sociales les plus d�favoris�es.

De 1988 � 1993, Handicap International a permis la formation de techniciens appareilleurs et la mise en place de 15 ateliers d'appareillage, g�r�s par des agences publiques ou priv�es. En 1994, a �t� cr��e l'association PARDS, charg�e d'animer le r�seau de ces agences partenaires et de renforcer les liens qui unissent les structures publiques et priv�es.

• Self Help Education Program Appropriate for Cultural Communities (SHEPACC), un programme de d�veloppement int�gr� pour le d�veloppement durable des populations Manobo de Mindanao.

Ce programme est mis en œuvre par Action Nord Sud, le d�partement pluri-disciplinaire de Handicap International, et son ONG partenaire philippine, Friends of the Lumads.

Quatre volets composent SHEPACC :

• volet �ducation : �ducation primaire pour les enfants et alphab�tisation fonctionnelle pour les adultes
• volet d�veloppement rural et environnement
• volet sant�
• volet d�veloppement de la citoyennet�, dans le respect de l'identit� culturelle manobo

Handicap International is present in the Philippines with 2 programs :

• Support for the Filipino Association for the Rehabilitation of Handicapped People (PARDS) in charge of the coordination of activities aimed at helping the physically handicapped in the most underprivileged classes of society.

From 1988 to 1993, Handicap International allowed the training of artificial limb and appliances technicians and the creation of 15 artificial limb and appliances workshops managed by public and private partners. The APRDS association was set up in 1994 to direct this network of partner agencies and to reinforce the ties between public and private structures.

• Self Help Education Program Appropriate for cultural Communities (SHEPACC), an integrated program for the lasting development of the Manobo populations in Mindanao.

This program is implemented by Action Nord Sud, the pluri-disciplinary department of Handicap International, and its Filipino partner NGO, Friends of the Lumads.

There are 4 components in this program :

• education component : elementary education for the children and functional literacy for the adults
• rural development and environment component
• health component
• citizenship development component, in the respect of the manobo cultural identity
