One day, however, the traveling party came to a clearing. In the distance approached some form of creature unusual to the samurai. The party asked of its name and its purpose, but it gave no response. Suddenly the creature attacked, slaying many of the other royal guards. In the fury, Jotaro fought bravely but could barely save himself. Before he knew what was going on he found the daimyo's son, the sole life he was to protect, dead from the creature's attack.
Then, from no where, another group of people appeared and attacked the savage creature. Their attacks were swift and the creature seemed to be no problem for the sudden newcomers. Once they slew it they introduced themselves. He had just been saved by two mighty paladins, Skeith and Martus of a group known as Night's Watch. The explained to Jotaro the creature they had just fought off was an Other.
With the daimyo's child dead and his honor lost, Jotaro was left with two choices. He could either commit seppuku and end his life, or learn the talents of these men and seek justice against the likes of the one who had attacked him. He decided to join these men and learn from them in the hopes of one day getting justice for the soul of the daimyo's lost son.
