Being shallow in this manner does not have to be entirely about outward appearance. I believe it is focusing all your attention on one aspect of a person. For example, it could be anything; physical appearance, intellect, wealth, and even personal preferences.
A friend of mine gave me a quote of his that he said he lived by...
"Beauty is what gets me to approach, while personality is what makes me stay there".
Taking this into thought makes me realize he could be half of a shallow person... though, I'm not completely sure. Granted, if she is a ditz, he's not gonna be continuing any sort of conversation... but, as well, if she didn't have that certain look about her, he wouldn't consider her in the first place.
For me personally, I look at the hot girls, ya know the ones that could be in some kind of magazine or another... but from the ones that I have talked to, they just annoy me. Sure, they may be gorgeous supermodel quality, but they have the personality of a wombat. I find the girl, who may not have the supermodel body/face, but has an amazing personality far more attractive than anything.
In fact, the two girls that I am most interested in now would not make it into a lingerie catalogue just on looks... but if those catalogues could show the personality that they have, they would be more popular than any supermodel.
