New Gardens Band
Membership
Membership is open to adult musicians in the community, college students,
and talented high school students recommended by their music directors.
There must be a position open in their section as determined by the music
director and members must demonstrate ample musical ability. This may be
accomplished by attending a rehearsal to determine if they are comfortable
with their playing ability in relation to the group, being heard by the
section leader, and possibly even auditioning with the music director. We
want our members to feel as comfortable playing with us as we are with
them. We rely on each others ability to maintain a high quality
performance level. The music director has the final say as to a
candidates membership in the band.
Rehearsals
Rehearsals are held on Wednesdays from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the band
room of Palm Beach Gardens High School on Holly Street.
New Players
Players attending a rehearsal for the first time will be directed to the
Personnel Manager who will take personal information and introduce the
player to the Section Leader. It will be the Section Leader's
responsibility to seat the player temporarily. After several rehearsals
the prospective member will determine if he or she is comfortable playing
this level of music. The Section Leader and Conductor will approve the
new player for membership.
