PRE-KINDERGARTEN & KINDERGARTEN

By the end of Kindergarten, students will be able to know and do the following:

· Demonstrate the ability to turn on the monitor and speakers

· Demonstrate the ability to turn on the computer

· Demonstrate the ability to use the mouse

· Demonstrate the ability to use selected keys on the keyboard (return/enter, space bar, delete)

· Demonstrate the ability to use and eject a CD-rom

· Demonstrate the ability to SAFELY turn OFF the computer, monitor, and speakers

· Verbally express personal experiences with computer applications (in Spanish and English)

· Develop and present computer work

· Respect the abilities of self and others

· Keep clean, maintain, and be responsible for computer equipment and surrounding area

PREPARATORY

By the end of Preparatory, in addition to the pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten skills, students will be able to know and do the following:

· Master the ability to turn on the monitor and speakers

· Master the ability to turn on the computer

· Master the ability to use the mouse

· Master the ability to use selected keys on the keyboard (return/enter, space bar, delete)

· Master the ability to use and eject a CD-rom

· Safely operate and use the computer, CD-rom drive, keyboard, monitor, speakers, and mouse

· Recognize letters of the keyboard and appropriate keyboard functions

· Develop the ability type with correct finger placement (both hands, all fingers used)

· Demonstrate the ability to use the printer with teacher permission

· Demonstrate the ability to save files to a floppy disk and/or hard drive with teacher permission

· Master the ability to SAFELY turn OFF the computer, monitor, and speakers

· Verbally express personal experiences with computer applications (in Spanish and English)

· Develop and present computer work

· Respect the abilities of self and others

· Keep clean, maintain, and be responsible for computer equipment and surrounding area

GRADE 2
