Do Glass Slippers Come in Mauve

By: Sarah Jane Smith

A few days ago a country that was relatively forgotten by the world announced that they have a fairytale Queen. Apparently Queen Cindy is linked to the disappearance of a young maiden known as Cinderella. The Regal household is still denying any connection to the missing servant.

According to the girl's stepmother and sisters, Cinderella was last seen the night of the Country Grand Ball, which was held at the palace.

"Every one was invited to go," said Magrathea, the oldest sister.

"Cinderella refused to attend no matter how much we begged her to," said Paige, the youngest.

"She kept saying that she had too many chores to finish," Raye, the middle child, said.

When the three sisters and their mother, Maggie, returned home, they found the house empty and half cleaned. At first they thought she had gone to the ball afterall, but after two days with no sign of Cinderella, Maggie reported the dissearance of their servant to the King and his new bride, Cindy.

According to the press secretary, Jon Baumgardt, Queen Cindy arrived at the ball late. Ravishingly beautiful, she swept the Prince off his feet and occupied his attention the entire night. Several of the young ladies became jealous of all the attention she was getting, and was glad when she left.

A palace guard said that the King, who was at that time the Prince, fell in love with her at first sight. When she left suddenly he sent after her a glass slipper. That night the stranger took residence in the palace. The guard remembers that she asked the Prince's father if the slippers came in mauve.

The next day at lunch the Prince announced to his father, the current King, that he intened to marry this person. Later that night the Prince's father died in his sleep. When dawn came, the new King presented his bride-to-be to the kingdom.

In considering the facts presented, Mr Baumgardt stated that Queen Cindy and the servant, Cinderella, are most likely the one and the same.
