The first game to revolutionise Dreamcast/Gamecube’s console online capabilities is Phantasy Star Online (PSO) as most people refer to it. PSO is a adventure Action/Role Playing Game and has come a long way since Phantasy Star 1st appeared on the Sega Master System.
THE STORY.
Basically, the planet where everyone lived was no longer suitable to support life. So people sent robotic probes throughout space to find a suitable planet for people to live on. Thus Planet Ragol was discovered. The pioneer 1 ship was sent to Ragol. Pioneer 1 was to go set up a base, and make preparations for the people to come to the planet. Pioneer 2 was then sent to Ragol with the initial batch of people, along with mercenary hunters. When Pioneer 2 attempted to establish contact with Pioneer 1, a large explosion occurred on the surface of Ragol, and all contact with Pioneer 1 was lost. Now you, the Hunters, must go to Ragol and find out what happened.
Dreamcast Phantasy Star Online can be played in two different ways. Single Player, , or Online Multiplayer. Single Player takes you through the game, doing various quests while exploring the world. New to Gamecube/Xbox versions of PSO is Offline Multiplayer. This is a great addition to PSO, allowing people who do not have the Internet to enjoy multiplayer gaming with their friends offline gathering together around a screen. you will be playing in Split Screen mode and it is advisable to have a good sized TV!
The best way to play this game is online. You will need three things to play this game online; A compatible Internet Service Provider. A Modem/Broadband Adapter for your Gamecube/XBOX. Online play combines the best of both single player and offline multiplayer as well as chatting to other players, building team work and trading.
The artwork evolves from my two PSO characters Digital.K and Digi K mk II (formally known as Magik.K and Digital.K) and the picture of the yellow HUmar is a mate called Lionus Prime.
