ATLANTIC NEWFOUNDLAND DOG RESCUE

The Atlantic Newfoundland Dog Rescue (ANR) is a non–profit organization.  The organization upholds the dedication for the preservation and advancement of the Newfoundland Dog by rescuing those unfortunate Newfoundlands that may end up abused, abandoned, neglected or in shelters.

A Newfoundland should not be acquired casually or disposed of lightly but sometimes an owner’s circumstances change and the Newfoundland is unable to remain with its original owner.  It is on these rare occasions that the Atlantic Newfoundland Rescue will find a new, suitable, permanent home where the Newfoundland will be loved, cared for, and respected for its unique qualities.

Newfoundlands are a people-oriented dog, being especially devoted to children.  They are so laid back you may think of them as lazy, but they are not.  They are a highly intelligent breed and if properly trained they will work hard in such skills as cart pulling, tracking, obedience, water rescue and conformation.  A giant breed, an adult can eat approximately one quarter of a ton of food per year, with a puppy or working dog eating more.  Newfoundlands will drool to varying degrees depending on the dog, and the lifespan on an average is 10-11 years.

A Newfoundland makes a wonderful companion, but is it for you?  If you can accept all these facts about the Newfoundland and would like to become an adoptive parent, please contact Kathy Hanson (506) 696-6627, Cindy Mawhinney (506) 659-2627 or Devon Nutbeem (506) 459-8348.
