Where are they now ?

Our former colleagues are doing all sorts of things since they left the NFB.

Some are publishing books, others are into painting or genealogy or still other things such as volunteer work etc as we are told by Marie-Pierre Tremblay in the series "Life After the NFB". And we saw much more activity at the October, 2001 exhibition.

Here are some former colleagues we heard about in 2004.

Michael Averill, former Head of Personnal, is now Principal of Laurentian Academy, an international school situated in Val-Morin.

Jeanine Basile, who was a communications officer in the NFB's International Division in Montreal, is now Head of Communication and Public Affairs at Telefilm Canada.

Jean-Pierre Bastien, once assistant to French Production Head Jean-Marc Garand, is now Assistant Deputy Minister for Leisure and Sports at the Quebec Ministry of Municipal Affairs, Sports and Leisure.

Simon Beaudry, who was marketing officer in the French Program fiction studio, is President of Alex Films which compiles the receipts for all films shown in Quebec.

Roland Brideau, Distribution Officer in Moncton from November 1976 until September 1995, is now a Program Development Education Officer for the National Defense in Ottawa.

Raymond Brousseau, director for French Production, founded and is in charge of the Mus�e d�art Inuit Brousseau in Quebec City. In December 2004, French President Jacques Chirac inaugurated an exhibition at the Mus�e de l�Homme in Paris presenting the personal collection of his friend Raymond.

Herm�n�gilde Chiasson, who directed 12 films for the NFB French Program, was named Lieutenant-Governor of New Brunswick in August 2003.

Beno�t C�t� who was, amongst others, marketing officer in the French Program animation studio is into painting.

Lyle Cruickshank, former representative in Sydney and Director of Canadian Distribution, teaches cinema at Dawson College.

Sylvie Forest, former labour relations officer in the NFB Human Resources Department, is Director of Human Resources at Softimage.

Roger Frappier, former Head of French Production's fiction program, is a Producer for Max Films.

Raymond Gauthier, a former French Production documentary producer, is a Producer with Point de Mire.

Louise Gendron, once producer responsible for French Production's fiction program, is Director-General for Programming at T�l�-Qu�bec.

Doris Girard, former Director-General of French Production, is now Quebec Delegate-General in Mexico City.

Jacques Godbout, former film director and Director of French Production, is President of the Board of �ditions Bor�al and continues to collaborate with the magazine l'Actualit�.

Sam Grana, formerly a director with English Production, is a producer in Moncton.

Pierre H�bert, from French Animation,was awarded the Prix Albert-Tessier on November 9, 2004.

Kurt Hibchen, who we owe for a good part of the initial design of NFB Montreal and the design of NFB's Internet site, has founded Toboggan Design, an industrial design company.

Howard Krosnick, former assistant Director-General of Distribution for English Production is now Director, Marketing and Communications for the Combined Jewish Appeal.

Louise Lambert, a former Distribution Officer for the NFB in Rouyn-Noranda, now works there for the Quebec Ministry of Culture and Communications in the areas of theatre arts, musicology and scientific culture.

Paul Lapointe, long-time office manager for French Production in Toronto has founded Les Productions �r�zi in Montreal.

Yves Leduc, former Director of French Production and animation producer has become a bear hunter !

Rachel Lussier, who worked for French Production's information service from 1977 to 1979, is a journalist with La Tribune de Sherbrooke.

Fran�ois Macerola, former NFB Commissioner, is Vice-President of Legal and Commercial Services for Cirque du Soleil.

Jean-Claude Mah�, who was, amongst other things, NFB's Communications Director, is Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Telefilm Canada.

Richard Mondoux, who managed finances for French Production, is Vice-President Finances for V�lo-Qu�bec, where he is assisted by Nicole Charlebois, who used to work in accounting in a number of French Production studios.

Colette Noiseux, Research Officer for French Production Distribution, is now working in research for T�l�-Qu�bec.

David Novek who was, amongst other things, Director of the NFB Information and Promotion Department, is President of Novek Communications.

Mark Parson who was, amongst others, NFB Director of Public Affairs is now Vice-President, Public Affairs of HKDP Communications and Public Affairs.

Joan Pennefather, former NFB Commissioner, has been a CRTC Commissioner since March, 1998.

Ren� Pich�, a long-time French Production Head in Winnipeg, is Co-ordinator of the Soci�t� des communications du Manitoba.

Daniel Pinard, Director-General of French Production in 1985, is now in radio, amongst others, with Radio-Canada and COOL-FM.

Micheline Savoie, who worked in communications in the International Service from 1981-83, is now a communications officer in the office of the Rector of Laval University.

In March 2006 we received news from George Barnhill by Whitman Trecartin in the Newsletter and from Louis-Philippe Hemond. He started as a mailboy and read where he is now !
