June 2004 - Hematite
Seen here is a polished hematite touchstone (purchased from Hempware) with an engraved eagle painted in gold.
Healing Properties:
Hematite is very powerful in drawing illness from the body. It has long thought to be bloodstone due to a belief that it created a blood-like stain when worked on a lapidary wheel. Hematite acts like a sponge for negativity.
Magical Properties:
Hematite is an excellent grounding stone. It allows for focusing during tough times and is said to aid in relationships by creating balance.
Colour: metallic black.
Hardness: 5 1/2 - 6 1/2
Crystallization:
Formed by chemical weathering: thermodynamically driven alteration of minerals to form new minerals; changes composition and structure; occurs because of changes in T, P, composition
