General Review:
This book is intended for those who wish to practice Wicca everyday. However, the majority of the spells and rituals outlined in this book are for holidays, special events, and Full/New Moons. There really wasn’t a lot of information for practicing Wicca on a day-to-day basis.
This book is essentially a collection of spells and correspondences. However, I could have found equivalent spells and correspondences on the Internet, and I have actually found better spells online. I found this book to be rather short on the deeper spiritual aspects of Wicca.
The author opens the book a few paragraphs about the effectiveness of wishing upon a star, and the book goes on into detail about wish magic. Out of all the magical practices outlined in this book, wishing upon a star is the most effective! Perhaps it’s a personal opinion; I prefer simple, easy magic.
I found the author’s definitions of white, black and ‘gray’ magic to be rather inaccurate. As well, Dunwich emphasizes only doing certain types of magic during certain lunar phases; when many witches can do successful magic during any phase of the moon.
Despite my opinion that this book isn’t all that great, there are many pagans who would probably find it useful as a reference book. This book isn’t awful or highly inaccurate; it’s just a little too primitive and short on information for my tastes. My final analysis of this book is that it is OK.
