Mild yaoi, slight angst

I don't own Gundam Wing, I'm not making money off this, don't sue me.

Sleeping Single (sonfic) by Kurohyou

Here's the house.
Here's the street.
Here's the father to my lost dream.
Here's the lost and lonely look in your eyes.
When you leave I will break down and cry.

Duo was perched on the windowsill, staring out over the water. He wiped a tear away and choked back a sob. Ever since their fight last week, Duo had been in agony. The pain of being apart from his lover was too much. He missed the touch of Heero's hands on his body. The American pilot had left five messages on the other pilot's answering machine, but Heero had yet to return any of them. Duo sniffed and thought miserably that their insignificant fight wasn't worth anything, yet it had destroyed their relationship. He hopped off the windowsill and over to the dresser. As he brushed his long hair, he tried not to notice the searing pain in his chest.

Sleeping single-
I will wait for you.
I'm sleeping single-
'til you change your mind.
Sleeping single-
I will wait for you 'til time has gone by.

The bed was almost unbearably big with only one boy laying beneath the sheets. Duo's chestnut hair was fanned out around his angelic face. Sleep would not come easily- without the comforting touch of his lover, Duo felt like a lost child. The smooth sheets clung to the slim body, outlining his frail form. Duo held back his tears and prayed that Heero would return to him.

I'll pay the price for all the love you poured like rain
"toujours l'amour" over again
but the midnight chills
are getting so rough
and the bed is big enough for both of us.

Eventually, Duo slid into an uncomfortable sleep. His thoughts were haunted with the caresses of a ghost Heero; mere illusions even in his dreams. He woke multiple times. Duo wondered if the Japanese pilot even missed him. Was he sleeping with somebody else? Duo bit his lip, not wanting to picture his koi entangled with someone else Duo knew he was paying the price for giving his love away so hastily. Yet Heero was still so real to him.

Sleeping single-
I will wait for you.
I'm sleeping single-
'til you change your mind.
Sleeping single-
I will wait for you 'til time has gone by.

In his dream, Heero was holding him. Duo gladly kissed the pouty mouth, and he felt the warmth of his lover's breath on his neck.

Sleeping single-
I would die for you.
I'm sleeping single-
Won't you change your way.
Sleeping single-
I will pray for you to stay.

When Duo awakens, he sees a dark figure standing next to the window. He heard a sound.

"Hn." Duo couldn't believe his ears.

"You're back." He murmured dreamily. Heero removed himself from the shadows. His eyes took in the view of his braided boy, wrapped only in a thin sheet. Judging by the hurt look in his eyes, Duo needed him. Heero stood silently next to the bed. Duo looked deep into Heero's eyes. The American's violet ones filled with tears.

"Gomen, Heero. Gomen-" His voice cut off. Heero shushed the shaking pilot. Duo shuddered and took a deep breath. "I've been very lonely." Heero mumbled something inaudible. He then brushed his lips against Duo's. Excitement gripped Duo. He was tired of being alone... Yet Heero pulled away slowly and headed back to the window. Duo watched him go, confused and unsure of what happened.

Sleeping single-
I would die for you.
I'm sleeping single-
Won't you change your way.
Sleeping single-
I will pray for you to stay.
