Since I started being a fan of ELR and being on the net, I often see the same questions being asked. So I decided to do an ELR FAQ ! Here are some of the answers to the questions I see a lot they're in two categories as of now : Song and Non Song Related Questions....

Non Song Questions
In the pilot episode the twin's names are Matthew and Gregory and not Michael and Geoffrey like they are now and the kids aren't the same, why?
Well, I heard this answer for myself when I was lucky enough to see a taping of Everybody Loves Raymond. Here is what I had to say about it. Tom Caltabiano who is a producer and writer on Raymond explained it to the audience.
<<<I got an explanation sort of on the whole changing on the twins names from the pilot and why they are played by different kids. Tom told us that they switched babies for two reasons one was the original twins were triplets and one was a girl. Secondly it was easier to use the current twins cause they are related to Madlynn Sweetin who plays Ally. As for the name change thing. Ray decided after the pilot that he should change the twins names to different ones that his real life kids names because then everyone would know who they were. Tom said it doesn't really make that much sense cause they didn't change Ally's name plus the last name is a tip off as well. Plus and this is just my thing if you have ever seen Ray do stand up he does a bit on his twins and tells you one of them is named Gregory and the Shmegory. You can guess where the joke is in that lol.Anyway though Tom says that why he did it>>>

Why does Robert touch his food to his chin before he eats?
The answer is no one knows for sure. Some people say its just one of those little Idiosyncrasies and others think he has a mild case of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.) Personally I think its a little bit of both.
Has Ray Romano's real life family ever been on Everybody Loves Raymond?
The answer is yes! Here are the one's I know for sure. His daughter Alexandra has been in the episodes "Cookies," as the daughter of the troop leader who hates Ray. She is also in "The Wedding Part 2," as the flower girl. One of Ray's sons is in the episode "Fairies" as the prince in the play. In "Its Supposed to be Fun," Ray's real life daughter is sitting next to his TV daughter in the bleachers. Also in the same episode both of Ray's twins are sitting on the bleachers and after Geoffrey makes both his baskets Ray goes and sits in between his real life sons. In the episode I saw being taped entitled "Who am I" Al Romano Ray's real life father plays one of franks friends.(More appearances added as of 10/8) Al Romano was in the "Wedding Part 1," as Uncle Mel's "Business" Partner. After he meets Ray in the episode he swears to him that him and Uncle Mel aren't gay. Ray's real life brother, Rich Romano, has a brief cameo as a police officer in the 2nd season episode "The Checkbook." Ray's wife Anna is in the background of his High School reunion while Debra is dancing, in the episode "High School." Anna is also standing next to Ray in the episode "The Angry Family." Also Apparently Ray's other twin son is also in the "Fairies," episode as a Lion in the play.
( More appearances added Dec 21) In the last scene of the episode "Left Back", Ray Romano's twins make an appearence. Ray's daughter is in the top row on the righthand side in the same scene. In "The Thought That Counts," Ray's Twins are in the audience of the Ice Capades. His youngest son may or may not be in the bottom row in the audience as well. The answer again would be yes. To my knowledge none of Brad, Peter or Doris relatives have ever shown up on an ELR episode. However if you know differently please tell me about it. Now on to the yes part of this question. Patricia Heaton's real life husband David Hunt, play's Bill Parker on the show the Barone's Neighbor that Ray hates. He is in the episodes "The Baby-sitter," "Hackadu," and "A Vote for Debra." Phil Rosenthal the executive producer and the man who helped Ray Romano create Everybody Loves Raymond has also had his family members on the show. Most notably Monica Horan who plays Amy on the show is Phil Rosenthal's wife in real life she has appeared in over 20 episodes. Phil's dad Max is in the "The Skit" and "Who am I?" as one of Frank's Friends and fellow lodge buddies. Ben Rosenthal who is one of Phil's Children and coincidentally the inspiration of the episode "The Angry Family" played a trick or treater in the episode "Halloween Candy." ( More appearances added Dec 21) Phil's son is also in the episode "Left Back" In the last scene between Ray Romano's Twins.

The answer is its a little known Italian dish called braciole. Which is basically stuffed beef with sauce. The answer is together and separately they have written some of the best episodes of ELR. (Note: some episodes listed here have been CO written with other Everybody Loves Raymond staff writers.)
We will start with the episodes they have written together the list is as follows: The Wedding Parts 1 & 2, How They Met, and Bad Moon Rising.
Ray Romano separately has written: Why Are We Here?, Golf, Ray Home Alone, Debra's Workouts, Superbowl, Jealous Robert, Talk To Your Daughter, and The First Time.
Phil Rosenthal separately has written: The Pilot, I Love You, In-laws, Mozart, The Toaster, Left Back, Italy Parts 1 & 2, Separation, The Angry Family, Older Women, and The Cult.
The answer is that Everybody Loves Raymond tapes on Thursdays with the occasional Friday taping. Usually about a month or so in advance of when they are aired.
The answer is nope. As you can see the last names are spelled differently and their in no relation. It's an easy one to get confused though especially when webmasters like myself like to spell the Sweeten kids last name wrong.

The answer is when the show started Ally was 5 and the twins were 2. So in the 7th season that would make Ally 11 and the Twins 8. Next season they will be you guessed it 12 and 9 respectively.
Can you dear, sweet, webmisteress, aka Samantha, busy, college student / waitress make me a tape of a particular episode of ELR that I need desperately because I need it for Church, or I have never seen it, or syndication is mean, or I am dying and the only way to save my life is to have the episode on video tape? Or at least could you give me a detailed recap of what I have missed so I will not be shunned, I wont hate syndication anymore, It will be kind of like I have seen it, and I will be able to keep living on this wonderful planet of ours?(Question added 4/26)
The answer is nope sorry I can't. If I know you then I probably will give you a recap out of the kindness of my heart and maybe even a tape. However in general I am a pretty busy lady and I just dont have the time to make random people tapes of ELR even tho I am sure you guys are all super cool.
