A CARTOON, AS IF I COULD DRAW

By Ben Alexander, aka Infidel In The Temple

I do wish I could draw, because I love some of the ideas I come up with for cartoons.

So, I'll draw one with words.

The cartoon takes place in CBS President Les Moonves's office. He's screaming and howling into the phone.

First frame.

Don't you do background checks on these people? Don't you run personality tests? Well, then, would you mind telling me how you account for this debacle? Would you mind telling me how he managed to get by you and be on that program?

Second frame.

How the hell do you stay so calm? Do you realize the implications of this? Have you even managed to pay attention to the way that young man behaves? Have you listened to the things he says to people? The way people respond to him? That look on his face? Cripes, man, what in the name of God's green earth were you thinking of?

Third frame.

I'm telling you, you're on borrowed time with me. I thought this show was a mistake from the start, this "Big Brother" concept, but you and your friends gave me this bill of goods, I bought it, but you put that young man on there? You let the likes of him affect the atmosphere? Ever hear of one rotten apple? Don't even talk to me, man, I'm too disgusted. You're on borrowed time.

Fourth frame.

Give you another chance? Another chance my ass! There may well be another "Big Brother" next year, but it sure as hell isn't going to be run by you. I'd have to be crazy! Crazy! Forget it. Forget it, Romer. You're history. I let you produce "Big Brother," you put a fellow like Curtis in there, you're history, Romer. History.
