Psycho Babble Monday 8.10.98 0106pHST

I'm just going to get this whole NY UPDATE over with already. Get ready for a grand ole run down of my last eleven days in the city......

7.6.98 -- We took the wrong subway and ended up in the middle of Queens somewhere? Tell me how the hell do you get lost trying to get from midtown to the Museum of Natural History?? As it turned out we took the E train when we were supposed to take the A or the C. Argh. I felt really stupid and the boy looked at me like I WAS REALLY stupid.

The Boy -- "I thought you knew your way around here?"

So we spent the day at the Museum. It was my first time visiting this museum and it was kinda neat. Like the litte boy he is The Boy loved all the dinosaur exhibits. I found this adorable triceratop doll in the gift shop and was about to purchase it then realized....no way I'm spending 35 bucks for a stuffed peice of felt. Unfortunately, now that I think about it, I should have gotten it. IT WAS SO CUTE!

I got a kick seeing two kids telling their mom, "MOMMY look, you can see the mans penis!", as they pointed to the stoneage man and woman in the anthropology exhibit. I thought that was too funny. To end things off, we went to see an IMAX film about medicine men in the Amazon Rain forrest. Boooh-Riiing.

We went to Central Park, and I was too damn afraid to go all the way across the park for fear I would get lost. SURE go ahead and laugh. But CENTRAL PARK is HUGE baybee. After taking a few pictures and sitting at a bench enjoying the weather and each other, we took a cab to midtown to get dinner. We ate at IROHA and was rather urked of the four women behind us exclaiming how the like their Cali Rolls. They were vegetarians. Um, I'm not. I love meat. What the hell was I doing easedropping on their conversation anyway.

7.7.98 -- We went to the village.

The Boy -- "It really stinks here."

We walked and walked, went into a couple of stores taking advantage of the A/C. Looked for a leather jacket for The Boy's dad. We walked in a few galleries in SOHO. We dranked a few Frappachinos at Starbucks. Our last stop was Washington Square where the boy teased a little squirrel with gum wrappers, making the poor thing think it was food. The boy got his, when I noticed a hole on one of the legs of his shorts. Apparently the squirrel had bitten a hole through his shorts as we sat at the bench. Who got the last laugh?......I DID. Hehehe.

We ate dinner at Jekkel and Hyde. A real cool place. The Boy couldn't find the restrooms in the mysterious hallway. HAHAHAHA.

7.8.98 -- We watched the BEAUTY QUEEN OF LEANANE. Good play. Really good play. Very tragic. I've been using "FECK" and "SHYTE" a lot. "I haf a uryne infecshahn".

7.9.98 -- I took the cousins Mercedes into the city to pick up my sister from Port Authority. Did I feel like a rich brat or what? Before that we spent the day in Long Island with the kids. We walked around Great Neck. I wonder what the people thought of two Filipinos babysitting three VERY caucasian kids. Highlight? When the eldest asked the Boy to buy her the Backstreet Boys CD. The look on the cashiers face was priceless. We took the Benz to Great Neck Park, where the kids complained of the heat and wanting to go to the pool but couldn't because their mom didn't register them. Hell if I know why you need to register for a public pool. I wouldn't have minded a cool dip in the pool myself. It was nice spending time with them. They're kids on a hot summer day that need to go out because their mom is extremely busy with erands and keeping watch over the Contractor to make sure he doesn't make a holiday of a work day.

Wait! There's more!
