WWC Summer Breakout 2000 TV Recap and Review ----- The big news: The Trio of Terror ruled the night! The World Title almost changed hands thanks to interference from the Trio at the end of the main event. Larry Gionet and the Trio crucified Revelation. Jon Massey regained 25 percent of his company back, and also, with Rancid defeated JaMeS RioT and Frat Boy. Mad Dog Mortimer officially left the SWD. And the REAL big news, Chainsaw Charlie showed up at the end of the show apparently angry with THP and Jon Massey, but ended up hugging the two of them, shooting on the CWA, explaining everything over the past couple of weeks and throwing down the CWA Title belt. The belt was then smashed by a sledgehammer and put around the waist of WWC President Jon Massey. ------ Title changes: The title changes keep coming. Street Punk and Joe Snow defeated the make-shift team of Ace Fireside and Jago Ripley for the WWC World Tag Team Titles. Punk held two titles for about fifteen minutes before Revelation defeated him in a singles match to win the WWC Hardcore Title. The World Title almost changed hands, but didn't, even though Mighty Ryan Kelly pinned Shane Stud. The title change was overthrown by Jon Massey because of the ending of the match that involved the Trio of Terror interference. What's ironic is that if the title change would have held up and the Youth/Gionet match would have been for the International Title, then all five titles could have possibly changed, since The Jester was favored to lose the WWC World TV Title in a Four Way Dance that never happened. Current WWC Champions are: Shane Stud (World), Disturbed Youth (International), The Jester (TV), Revelation (Hardcore) and Street Punk/Joe Snow (Tag Team). ------ Babyface/heel turns: These turns are just as frequent as title changes. Apparently, Mad Dog Mortimer left the SWD, and even though he didn't turn full face, he appears to at least be a tweener. Maniac snapped, turning into a heel. Grendel formed an alliance with super-over face Revelation. ------ Injuries: This category exists at least for this week only. The Beast was taken to a hospital. As was Rick Frost. Frenzy was taken to the hospital. Frenzy will be out for nearly a month with internal injuries. Many men suffered blood loss. Revelation suffered a severe loss of blood during the crucifixtion angle. The Richards Brothers suffered some serious injuries when CWA wrestlers attacked them during their tag match with the "Men Behind the Mics." ------ Returns/Debuts: Two former WWC wrestlers Tom Stephenson and Gary Pate both came out of the crowd at separate times wearing CWA shirts, and both men escorted out of the building. Abnormal Behavior made his in ring return, surprisingly losing to Grendel after Gary Pate's interference. ------ Best match: None of the wrestling action was bad this week. The matches were good, and the two standout matches were Youth-Gionet and Kelly-Stud. Kelly-Stud edges out Youth-Gionet in a close second. And hell, even THP worked hard in his match against Mad Dog Mortimer. ------ Worst match: None of the action was bad. Even the Richards Brothers/Stallion-Rhodes match was decent and kept short, but when going with a worst match, that would be it. ------ Absurdity of the Week: Nothing was absurd this week actually. Well, actually not. Frenzy turned heel on Maniac last week, but this week, Frenzy apparently turned face after the match while Maniac was the one to turn heel. WWC execs change their mind? Other than that, the show was fairly logical (unless something is pointed out that I missed). ------ Analysis/highlights: An SWD interview opened up the show, with the SWD making a few announcements regarding later in the night. Frenzy defeated Maniac by pinfall but afterwards, Maniac snapped and chokeslammed Frenzy through a table. He also attacked Rick "The Giant Slayer" Frost who made his way out, and laid him out. The Beast defeated Joe Snow via disqualification after Street Punk interfered. Punk and Snow beat down the Beast which resulted in the Beast being taken out for the rest of the night. The Richards Brothers faced Derek Stallion and Jesse Rhodes in a no contest after CWA wrestlers ambushed the ring and beat down the Richards boys, while Derek and Jesse fled to the announcer's table, (where they belong!). Grendel defeated Abnormal Behavior after Gary Pate interfered and cost AB the matchup. Street Punk and Joe Snow faced a make-shift team of Ace Fireside and Jago Ripley, who teamed due to Rick Frost and The Beast having injuries from earlier in the night. Punk and Snow won the tag team titles that Ace Fireside had agreed to put up in the matchup. In a match that had THP's career on the line, a partner for Jon Massey in his match, and 25 percent of the company at stake, THP defeated Mad Dog Mortimer by pinfall. RioT and Frat Boy entered the ring irate at Mortimer and began brawling. Rancid ran in a few minutes later and cleaned house on RioT and Frat Boy as Mortimer let it happen and headed towards the back. Revelation defeated Street Punk to win the Hardcore Title but was crucified afterwards in a hideous scene by the Trio of Terror. Larry Gionet defeated Disturbed Youth with some help from Street Punk and Joe Snow, who took Youth hostage after the match. Gionet used Youth as a hostage to get a title shot. Gionet also stole the WWC International Title, which Youth later got back. Three SWD dummies were shown on fire outside of the arena, as Rancid teamed with Jon Massey to defeat RioT and Frat Boy. Rancid let Massey get the pin on Frat Boy to deliver the ultimate humiliation to the two men. Mighty Ryan Kelly pinned Shane Stud in the main event, but did not win the world title after controversy involving interference from the Trio of Terror. Sex and Violence versus the Trio of Terror and a Shane Stud/Mighty Ryan Kelly rematch were both signed for next week's show. Maniac attacked the Jester and laid him out. Chainsaw Charlie made his way out at the end of the show and delivered a big-time shoot on the CWA before throwing down the CWA title and giving it to Jon Massey. Charlie, Massey and THP stood in the ring with the CWA World Title belt and threatened the CWA as the show concluded. ------ Grade: A++ - This show had it all! The best show the WWC has done in a long time. A great job of establishing new big heels and faces, as well as continuing new and intriguing fueds and angles. The wrestling was good, the angles were good, and the twist at the end was unbelievable. The feedback generated from the show has been incredible and this will be a hard one to top. ------ Results: Frenzy OVER Maniac via Pinfall The Beast OVER Joe Snow via DQ The Richards NO CONTEST with Stallion & Rhodes Grendel OVER Abnormal Behavior via Pinfall Street Punk/Joe Snow OVER Ace Fireside/Jago Ripley THP OVER Mad Dog Mortimer via Pinfall JaMeS RioT NO CONTEST Frat Boy Revelation OVER Street Punk Larry Gionet OVER Disturbed Youth Jon Massey/Rancid OVER JaMeS RioT/Frat Boy Mighty Ryan Kelly OVER Shane Stud
