Panel Discussion
Panel Discussion: Multiculturalism
- Participants
- Preamble'There seems
to be a strong feeling among the non-Chinese community that there
is more emphasis on Chinese and Chineseness, so much so that
minorities are feeling that they are being marginalized. This
panel on multicultural issues has been formed to examine the
state of multiculturalism in Singapore.'
- Proceedings: We emphasize
that the participants represent only their personal views and
opinions in their individual capacity. Nothing on this site should

- Reader's comments:
There is no contradiction between wanting to maintain each culture's
heritage while at the same time promoting unity. Singapore is
a success story. 30 years of nation building have brought Singaporeans
better living standards, high employment, low illiteracy, adequate
representation from all ethnic groups and modern technology despite
differences in culture that some countries are battling to achieve!
