*A lot of newsies fans write stories about jumping into the movie, visiting the newsies and walking around in New York City, in 1899. But did anyone ever think about what it would be like to have the exact opposite happen? What if the newsies came into the future of 2003 and landed right in your living room! Well that�s what happened to me, and here�s my story�*

It was a Friday night and my parents had gone away for the weekend, so I invited my friends Raina and Nicole to sleep over. It was about 9:30PM and we decided to watch our favorite movie, Newsies. We loved watching this movie! Nicole always drooled over Kid Blink, Raina�s favorite newsie was Racetrack, and I couldn�t get enough of Spot Conlon. It had been raining outside and a bolt of lightning flashed. Suddenly the movie paused right on the part where the newsies get their picture taken by Denton.

�No!� We all groaned. Raina reached over me and grabbed the remote.

�What�s wrong with this? Why isn�t it working?� She shouted pushing the buttons on the remote.

�So much for singing along to King of New York!� Nicole sighed, disappointed.

I started to get up to take the tape out of the VCR when all the sudden a bright light flashed out of the TV, knocking me back down. The bright light filled every crack of the room and we had to shield our eyes from it. We all started screaming as dark figures came shooting out of the screen and onto the floor. After what seemed like forever, but was probably only about 15 seconds, the light went away and we were left sitting there speechless on the couch in the pitch black living room.

�What the hell was that!?� Nicole cried.

Then we all started to hear voices all around the living room. We all froze and I reached over and turned on the lights. Nicole, Raina and I screamed as we looked around my living room which was packed with newsies! There must have been about 15 of them, and they all screamed when they saw us.

�Where da hell are we?� Mush cried.

�Yeah Jacky-boy, is dis one of your jokes or something?!� Kid Blink shouted over the screams.

After everyone calmed down, we all stood there for a minute and just started at each other. The newsies started whispering to one another. I looked over at Nicole and Raina, who both were stunned by what was going on.

�Can this really be happening?� I asked them. �Do you guys see this too?�

�Yeah, unless I�m going crazy!� Raina whispered.

�You guys, do you realize how awesome this is?! We actually have the real live newsies right here, in the same room with us!� Nicole whispered grinning.

The three of us looked at the confused newsies, then back at each other and started to giggle uncontrollably. Suddenly, we were stopped by Jack Kelly�s voice.

�Uhh, would any of you�se goils mind telling us were where we are?� he asked us.

All the newsies went silent, waiting to hear an answer. My friends and I all stood up.

�Your all in South Jersey and this is my house. I don�t know exactly how you all got hear, but you came through my TV screen� I explained to them, pointing to the television.

�What�s a TV?� Mush asked with a weird look on his face.

�Oh, shoot!� Nicole whispered to me. �They don�t know its 2003; they don�t even know what half of this stuff is in this room!�

�Umm, I don�t know how to put this easily, but this is the year 2003. I think all of you must have gotten transported to the future.� I told them.

At first, they all looked speechless, and then they all started asking questions at the same time.

�Wait, wait, hold up, everyone just be quiet for a second!� Jack shouted over the talking. �Now, I�m sure we�ll all be able to get home soon, but in da meantime, let�s just enjoy our stay here, all right?�

Everyone agreed in unison. Then they all looked over at us, expecting us to say something.

�Ok, great!� Nicole said. �Well, it�s getting kinda late to figure out how to get you all back to 1899 tonight, so I�ll work on that first thing tomorrow.�

�All right, well I�m Katie, that�s Raina, and this is Nicole. Just make yourselves comfortable and we�ll be right back.� I said as some of the newsies started to sit down in the living room.

I grabbed my friends and took them into the kitchen.

�What is it Katie?� Raina asked.

�Shh!� I whispered and pulled them closer. �What are we supposed to do with all these newsies? If they�re still here when my parents come home on tomorrow night, I�ll be grounded for the rest of my life!�

�Chill out!� Nicole whispered. �Tomorrow, I�ll figure out how to get them back to 1899 and your parents will never find out!�

�Yeah!� Raina said. �And guess who else I saw with the newsies!�

�What?� I said. �Who!�

�Um, excuse me.� A voice said, interrupting us.

We all looked down and saw Les Jacobs standing a few feet away.

�I was wondering if you had anything to drink. I�m kinda thirsty.� He asked politely.

�Of course!� I said, and opened up the fridge. �What would you like to drink?�

�Just a glass of water, thanks.� He said to me.

I poured him some water and gave it to him. He started gulping it down.

�Nicole, go and ask the newsies if any of them wants something to drink or eat.� I told her, and she left the kitchen.

A few minutes later all of the newsies wondered into the Kitchen. Some sat down at the counter and kitchen table. I pulled out everything I had to drink in the fridge that they would be used to drinking. (That meant no soda!) Nicole and Raina made them snacks to eat and I poured their drinks. They were all very friendly.

�Hey, does anyone wanna play poker?� Raina asked, knowing that Racetrack would defiantly want to play.

About 8 or 9 of them said yes, so she got out a deck of cards and they all went onto the dining room to play. She sat down right next to Racetrack and let him deal out.

I saw Nicole grab Kid Blink and start showing him around the house. I figured that she would be stuck to him like glue the rest of the time he was here!

�So Jack, is everything all right? Do you want me to get you anything else?� I asked as I sat down next to him.

�No thanks, I�m fine.� He said smiling.

�Hey, Jacky-boy. Did you see some of da weird stuff they got here?� said one of the newsies.

I turned around to see who it was, and standing right in front of me was the leader of Brooklyn, Spot Conlon!

�Yeah, I know! I still can�t believe we�re actually in da future!� Jack said to Spot. �Hey, Katie, did ya meet Spot yet?�

�No, I don�t think so.� I said, trying not to blush.

�I�se Spot Conlon, da leader of da Brooklyn newsies.� He said taking my hand and kissing it. I started to giggle a little bit, but caught myself.

The three of us talked for a while and then Spot decided to go play poker with Racetrack and Raina. Then I started to talk with Jack.

�So Jack, have the newsies ever been to an amusement park before?� I asked, getting an idea.

�I don�t think so. I know dat Bumlets and Mush went to Coney Island once, but that�s about it.� He told me.

�Ok, I was thinking of taking all of you to one tomorrow, while Nicole figures out how to get you back home.� I told him.

�That sounds like fun! I�ll tell da guys about it!� He said and went to tell the rest of the newsies.

I said goodnight to everyone and ran up the stairs, jumped on my bed and screamed into my pillow. That�s how excited I was! I could not believe that the newsies were actually in my house! Tomorrow was going to be a very interesting and fun day. I quickly went to sleep, thinking about all of the newsies.

The next day, Nicole, Raina, and I got up first. I told them about my plan to take the newsies to a local amusement park on the boardwalk called �Funland�, and they liked the idea. Nicole decided to stay home, to figure out how to get the newsies back to 1899. So Raina and I woke up all the newsies and we all got ready and headed over to the boardwalk.

When we got there, all the newsies were very excited about going on all of the rides. We decided to break up into groups so they wouldn�t get into trouble. Raina�s group was Racetrack, Bumlets, and Kid Blink. My group had Jack, Spot, and Skittery. David was in charge of the group with Mush, Les, and Boots. We all split up and decided to meet back in 2 hours.

�So what do you guys wanna do first?� I asked Jack, Spot and Skittery.

They all looked around excitedly and then one ride caught their eye. They all started pointing to a roller coaster called �The Viper�. It was one of those electric ones where your feet hang out and there are tons of loops. We all went over to the ride and got on the four seats in the front row. The ride started and it took us up so high that we could see the whole park! We all screamed as it went over the hill and straight down, right into a loop. There were about seven loops in the roller coaster and when we got off, Jack, Spot and Skittery thought it was the best ride ever.

We went to a booth to look at our pictures from the roller coaster and they were very funny. Jack had this big smile on his face, I was screaming, Spot looked scared to death and skittery was making a weird face.

�So what ride do you want to go on next?� I asked them.

�How�s about we go on dat one!� Jack said, pointing to the Ferris wheel.

�Does it go upside down?� Spot asked quickly, looking a little nervous.

�Nah, you have nothing to worry about Spot. This one goes nice and slow.� I said, laughing a little.

�Hey, I ain�t scared!� Spot said to me.

We all went over to the Ferris wheel and hopped in one of the carts. It started to go up. The ride stopped at the top and we could see the whole park.

�Hey look! Theres Kid Blink and Race!� Skittery said, pointing down to the concession stand. �Hey Race! Blink!!� he shouted to them. They looked up and waved to us. We all waved back to them.

The Ferris wheel started up again and the cart shook abruptly. We all jumped, and Spot who was sitting next to me got startled and quickly moved closer.

�You ok, Spot?� I asked patting him on the shoulder.

�Of Course! Why wouldn�t I be?� he said convincingly and put his arm around me.

�I guess he�s afraid of heights� Skittery whispered to Jack. Spot glared at him.

When we got off the Ferris wheel, we went in the house of mirrors and Skittery got lost. It took about a half hour to get him out! Then we went on the merry-go-round and the swinging pirate ship. After a few more rides, we met up with Raina and the rest of the newsies by the concession stand. Everyone gasped when they saw Les, who had puke stains on his shirt.

�Whoa, what happened to him!?� Race asked, with his arm around Raina.

�He got a little sick on the �Tequila� ride.� David explained to us.

Just then I noticed that everyone in Raina�s group was soaking wet. Her, Race, Kid Blink, and Bumlets were all dripping with water.

�How did all of you get so wet?� I asked, laughing.

�Raina took us on the log floom!� replied Blink. �It was great!�

Raina looked down at her watch, and then tapped Kit on the shoulder to get her attention away from Spot, who still had his arm around her.

�Hey Kit, it�s already 6:00! How about we all get something to eat and head back home.� She said.

�Ok, sounds good.� I told her.

All of us left the amusement park and walked down to boardwalk to a pizza place called �Mario�s�. This was the first time the newsies had tried pizza, and they loved it! They went through 4 whole pies!

It was about 7:30, so we all went back to my house to hang out. When we got there, Nicole was still working on a way to get the newsies back home.

�How was the amusement park?� Nicole asked us when we walked in the door.

�It was great!� Mush replied. There was so much so much stuff there to do! We went on all the rides!�

The phone started to ring in the kitchen. Raina went and grabbed it off the receiver and asked who it was. Then I saw her face turn pale with fear.

�It�s your mother�!� She said, handing me the phone.

�Oh, hi mom!� I said into the phone. �You�re coming home early? Tonight? Oh�great. How soon will you be home? In about an hour? Ok�yeah�love you too, bye.�

I hung up the phone and screamed. All the newsies looked over at me with a worried look on their faces.

�What are we gonna do!? My parents are coming home in an hour! I don�t wanna even think what will happen if they see all these boys here!� I said, panicking.

�Just calm down!� Nicole said to me. I�m almost finished figuring out a way to get them all back to 1899. I�ll just work faster!� and she went into the other room.

Blink sat down and put his arm around me. Raina sat down on my other side. We all talked and watched TV for about a half hour and Nicole came rushing into the room.

�I�ve got it!� She yelled in excitement. �I figured out a way to get all of the newsies back!�

�How? Raina asked, jumping up.

�It�s too complicated to explain quickly enough, but all you have to do is have all the newsies stand right in front of the TV, turn off the light and push the red button on this remote.� She told us.

�Where�d ya get this remote from? It�s not ours, is it??� I asked as she handed me the strange looking remote.

�It�s your remote, but I had to change it so that this whole idea would work.� Nicole told me.

So we all said goodbye to the newsies, and hugged each of them. Blink gave Nicole a big kiss, and she was almost in tears at seeing him go. Raina jumped into Race�s arms and he swung her around, laughing. Then he kissed her on the cheek. I said goodbye to everyone and then Spot last. I knew he had this whole �tough leader� reputation, so I just held out my hand for him to shake, but he pulled me in and gave me a big hug. Then he gave me a quick kiss and thanked me for everything.

So, then all the newsies stood in front of the TV, and Nicole, Raina and I sat down on the couch, all of us almost in tears. None of us wanted them to leave, but it had to be done. We turned off the lights after Raina put the newsies movie in and had it on the exact spot where they jumped out of the screen. I pushed the button on the remote and a huge bright light flashed across the room. Then Raina turned on the lights.

�It worked!� She said with relief

�I did it, I knew it would work out!� Nicole said, proud of herself.

We all were still crying a little bit from seeing them leave, and we gave each other hugs. Just then my parents walked in the door. They saw us in the living room and came in to say hi.

�What�s the matter? Why are you all crying?� My mom asked us, confused.

�Ohh, just a sad movie.� I said to her, giving double glances at my friends who were sitting next to me. They both giggled quietly.

�What are you girls watching?� she asked, looking at the TV.

When she saw the group of newsboys on the screen, she rolled her eyes.

�God, you girls and your newsies.� She said laughing. �Your all so obsessed, you probably imagine them just jumping out of the screen and talking to you!�

�Sure mom, we�re not THAT obsessed!� I said, and Raina and Nicole started laughing.
