Willingly seek God as a sure foundation
We are not to seek the dead. We are not to do divination, witchcraft, enchantments, or wizardry. These are all very offensive to God. We are taught to pray to God and Him only. That is why I found it very disconcerting to study Joseph Smiths life and become acquainted with how into the magic arts he was.

A pivotal point in my studies was when I became acquainted with how Joseph Smith met Emma Smith in Palmyrawhy he was in the area. He had a business where he would tell people where to find buried treasure. He was brought to court for it and found to be guilty and paid a fine. This is documented in court papers.  He was also into astrology, masonry, and use of a peep stone. The information about Joseph Smiths connection with magic arts is pretty easily accessible on the internet and in books if you are willing to see. I was willing to see and willing to follow Gods lead to his truth as a sure foundation.

Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I [am] the LORD your God. Leviticus 19:31

I want to tell you about something really good. Gods truth is powerful, beautiful, life-changing as opposed to the works of the flesh.
