About New & Recycled Romances

New & Recycled Romances is located in Costa Mesa, California. Our romance books are alphabetized and our series books are in numerical order. We have all types of romances, from time-travel to series to futuristic and contemporary. We also carry some general fiction as a way to occupy the men who accompany romance readers. Local romance authors often stop by to meet their readers. A couple of times a year, we hold author signings and serve afternoon tea for our guests.

About the owner, Toni Bruner

Over 60% of paperbacks that are purchased are romances and over 85% of all paperbacks are purchased by women. With that in mind, New & Recycled Romances was born.

For her birthday one year, a friend gave the owner, Toni Bruner, 700 books to add to Toni's already growing collection of over 800 romances. Always knowing that there were others interested in the same genre she was, Toni opened up a

small bookstore in 1986. Over the past 20 years, the number of books has increased to 60,000 and the small bookstore now occupies three shops side-by-side with inner doors connecting them.

Several events throughout the years have proven that New & Recycled Romances is a bookstore that strives to meet all the needs of our customers. There have been field trips to television shows, parties to celebrate milestones, and numerous author signings.

It is our goal to provide a friendly environment for our customers with comfortable seating areas, special order for new and/or hard-to-find books, and low prices. We strive to keep everything organized and alphabetized so our customers have no trouble finding what they are looking for. Our staff is knowledgeable; if you can't find what you're looking for, just ask and we'll be more than happy to assist.We believe in our product and read what we sell, allowing us to recommend authors or specific books to customers in search of something "new".

New & Recycled Romances has been in the Wall Street Journal and the Los Angeles Times and, in 1990, the Romantic Times Magazine Bookstores that Care Network honored Toni Bruner with an award for her dedicated service to her customers.

New & Recylced Romances is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 am to 5:30 pm.
