The Cabin

~The Blue Ridge Parkway~
Gateway to Nature

The Blue Ridge Parkway, a part of the National Park System, passes through all five counties in the North Carolina High Country and offers travelers a unique perspective of the areas quiet natural beauty and rural landscape. Its views are enlivened by old highland farms with split rail fences, weathered cabins, gray barns and other bygone structures of the original hill culture.

Designed especially for motor recreations, the Blue Ridge Parkway provides quiet, leisurely travel, free from commercial development and the congestion of todays modern highways.

Native trees and plants border the roadside. Overlooks, campgrounds, picnic areas, and wayside exhibits turn a pleasant drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway into a memorable motoring adventure.

But the Blue Ridge Parkway is more than just a wandering byway; its an avenue to some of the areas most popular parks and hiking tails, bringing you closer to nature and all its wonders.

For your convenience, mileposts are placed along the Parkway to let you know where you are and to help you locate the scenic attractions and trails along its path.
