Islam – the world’s most violent religion

The recent furore over the publication of cartoons deemed "insensitive" to the Islamic religion has further heightened public awareness of the nature of the Islamic religion. The riots, the arson attacks, the public calls to commit murder in the name of religion all contribute to a better understanding of what a menace the world’s Muslim population poses to the rest of us.

It does not seem that many years ago that Islam was regarded in the West as a rather exotic curiosity. Surely that naïve innocence must be well and truly shattered now. I was one of very few people in the 1980s attempting to draw public attention to the potential danger posed by this intolerant, hate-filled bloc, and was pooh-poohed by those who accused us ourselves of being intolerant.

It is with little satisfaction that I have to say "I told you so" to these people! Plane hijackings, terrorist attacks in America, bombings in London, and now rioting and incitement to murder can no longer be swept under the carpet. It is time for true men of the West to guard against any further incursions into our society of the Islamic faith. I have said repeatedly – and I say it again – that it is neither practical nor desireable to prohibit immigration solely on the grounds of race or religion. We live in a global village, and free movement of people is essential. On a personal level, some immigrants of other faiths are excellent people and contribute constructively to our societies. But surely we must reclaim the right to identify that massive, uncontrolled immigration from Islamic countries poses a serious security risk to our nations. The more times you play Russian roulette the greater the danger of terminal failure! And likewise, the more immigration from Islamic countries, the greater the chances of fanatics and terrorists infiltrating our societies. If only 5% of Muslims are fundamentalists, then 100,000 Muslim immigrants means 5,000 screaming hate-filled rioters. It is time to lift the taboo against a sensible discussion on immigration.

Car tax – wacky eco-loonies strike again

The recent proposal from prominent "environmentalists" (read leftist loonies) to impose a progressive tax regime on cars based on their engine sizes reflects the fundamentally ignorant nature of these people. The suggestion that cars with a bigger engine size (and which therefore use more petrol) should be subject to higher taxation than cars with a smaller engine size is easily rebutted by considering one fact so simple that it beggars belief that anyone could not think of it. And that is that owners of big cars are already paying more tax, by buying more petrol. Think about it. I drive a BMW 7-series. This uses a lot of petrol. Instead of putting in $20 per week I put in $50. Most of this goes in tax to the government. Therefore, in simple terms, I am being penalized for choosing to drive a large car. Were I totally anal, I could bleat that this isn’t fair, but I accept that it is my choice. Choice is something that leftist loonies have never been able to accept, as it contravenes their orderly, methodical, Marxist approach to life.

Please don’t misunderstand me. Like most Rightists, I have no time for the "slash and burn", concrete jungle mentality of unbridled capitalism. I believe it is important to live in a pleasant and green environment. But almost without exception, professional environmentalists are the same loonies looking for a cause as the anti-racist activists, the anti-sexism activists, and all the other assorted riff-raff that make up the liberal side of the political spectrum. The belief that, for example, trees are more important than people, is little different to the belief that other cultures and nations deserve respect, but our’s doesn’t.

"Uncensored" magazine – any good?

Some readers will be aware of a newish magazine available at bookshops and newsagents around the country, called "Uncensored". This magazine proudly proclaims itself a publication for conspiracy theorists. As, arguably, most conspiracy theorists are Rightists, it is appropriate to examine whether this magazine is worth the fairly hefty purchase price. A New Zealand publication, it is published by Steve Crowe, a rather sleazy individual better known for trying to produce a hard-core sex film showing the lead "actress" who was heavily pregnant actually giving birth. While the film was produced, the birth scene was omitted after a public outcry and the intervention of the Minister of Health. Hardly, then, an auspicious start. None the less, as I pointed out at the time of the Graham Capill trial, being an unappealing individual does not mean that your ideas are necessary worthless.

With an all-star cast of columnists, including the irritatingly likeable Havoc and Newsboy, this magazine should certainly attract mainstream attention for alternative ideas. This has to be positive. However, while issue one was surprisingly good, it has to be said that the follow-up issue smacks of desperation. Even worse, it more than smacks of a left-wing political agenda. While genuine Rightists will share the Left’s distaste for the American political establishment (albeit for different reasons), and while few of us would put much past the American government, the constant barrage of leftist rhetoric becomes tiresome. Moreover, the inclusion of "National Enquirer" type urban myths undermines any credibility the magazine may have in exposing genuine cover-ups.

"Uncensored" is a good idea, and has the potential to "stir things up a bit", but I really don’t think they’re on our side…

Should we support the National Front?

Over the last few months, a number of people have contacted me for advice on whether to continue supporting New Zealand’s Rightist political party, the National Front. This comes after a number of high-profile resignations and defections, the bizarre behaviour of the current Chairman, and the disastrous farce that was the general election.

Taking first the issue of the election, I was one of 5 National Front candidates contesting the election, under the banner of a larger grouping, Direct Democracy. This was, for me, a far from ideal situation. As some readers will be aware, I battled constantly last year to ensure that the NF would have a visible presence at the election, and would stand under the NF banner. I was unable to convince others, and was then left the two options; either to participate, or to stand aside. I chose to participate, standing as candidate in Wigram. In retrospect, I admit to an error of judgement there, as my involvement has been taken by some to be a vote of no confidence in the NF. As I predicted would happen, all Direct Democracy candidates received abysmally low votes, as we did also on the party list. Given that no-one had ever heard of Direct Democracy, it was hardly surprising that the name attracted far fewer votes than the NF name would have done. For the poor result, I blame no-one. The leader of Direct Democracy, Kelvyn Alp, is excellent, and deserves to go far. Many other non-NF Direct Democracy candidates would also have made fine, patriotic, common-sense MPs. But realistically, the concept was doomed from the start. None-the-less, it was an outstanding achievement for the NF to field 5 candidates. Remember we have never before fielded more than one candidate in any given election, so we must be proud of this achievement, which must surely be worrying our opponents.

But to come back to the question. Is the NF still worthy of support? It is well-known that I was a strong supporter of the former Chairman, Kyle Chapman, and most readers will know that I was myself Chairman from 1989 – 1997. It is no secret, however, that I am not a supporter of the current Chairman, and indeed he is not a supporter of me! Personal considerations, however, are irrelevant in such an important matter as the defence of our country, and our values. The matter must be looked at objectively.

Since Kyle Chapman’s unfortunate but understandable resignation, much change has taken place for the worse. All branches except Auckland are now more or less moribund, membership is in decline, and morale is at an all-time low. Does this mean that we should desert the sinking ship?

What alternative is there? Is it really practical – or desireable – to suggest the formation of a new movement, when the NF already has the public profile, and the respect to go on to greater things? Is it worth starting again from scratch when we already have a perfectly good organization and network, that is simply in need of the right leadership?

Let us not forget that one or two new organizations have already sprung up. Most notable is the excellent New Right movement. This group is actually the Wellington branch of the NF, that left the NF en masse after receiving abusive emails from the Chairman calling them "a gang of wanks", and telling them to commit unquestioning loyalty to his leadership "or go to hell" (these are actual direct quotes from Sid Wilson’s emails to the Wellington branch leadership). It is hardly surprising that they took offence. This group includes former NF secretary and NF News editor Kerry Bolton. Not being put off by this childish name-calling, they have carried on "business as usual", but under the new name. New Right members are regularly on the streets handing out leaflets, putting up posters, and issuing press statements. But excellent though this group is, it is not ideal to see a return to small, splintered groups, each one based in a different city. I’ve seen over the years groups that were based in Christchurch, in Wellington, in Auckland, but never able to break out and become truly national organizations. Over the last 3 or 4 years the NF has achieved that. For the first time in living memory, we had a nationalist, conservative political party on a truly nationwide level. This is precisely why the hostility towards us from the far-left has been cranked up to a level exceeding anything even I would have expected. Put simply, the NF is too good to simply throw away.

I know that many members have simply dropped out, demoralized by Mr. Wilson’s arrogant, dictatorial style and his constant stream of personal abuse at anyone he has a disagreement with (which seems to be just about everyone). Many members outside of Auckland have dropped out because of a lack of activity.

There is room for improvement; there is still work to be done to move the NF from the lunatic fringe to a point where we can truly say it represents the New Zealand people. Out-dated extremist and/or racist sentiments and ideas must give way to common sense.

But my advice is to do as I have done; remain a member. Be patient; everything will work out in time. Don’t throw away what we have worked for.
