*The Man I Love*
He'll look at me and smile, I'll understand, And in a little while, He'll take my hand, And though it seems absurd, I know we both won't say a word...
Part Five
" So do you want to catch a movie sometimes?" Nick asked. " With you... I mean us?" I stammered, nibbling on a carrot. After our encounter with Marcus a few months ago, Nick and I slowly became friends. I never pressed charges against Marcus, I just wanted that part of my lif over, and Nick and Rachel helped me do just that. Nick helped me get my own apartment and helped me get on with my life, without asking anythign in return. In Nick helping me i found out alot about him. He was lighthearted and funny... which i would have never guessed about him. He could be quite silly at times, and a basketball fanatic. He had a brother and 4 sisters, and was extremely close to his parents, which i admired because my parents were no longer alive. Nick, Rachel and I spent a lot of our lunches together, which was strange for me at first, but i got use to it... and i got used to Nick. Rumors started to circulate about nick, Rachel and I and all the time we spent together, and i wanted to be the first to clear the air, but both Nick and Rachel agreed that what we knew was best kept between us. On this particular day Rachel was sick, so it was only Nick and I for lunch. We sat at our usual park bench and talked. " If that's okay with you... I mean, if it's too soon i'll understand-" " It's not that. It's just that i'm not sure... you know.. Office politics?" " Well then.. you're fired," He smiled. " Very funny," I laughed. " Heather, i wouldn't have asked if i thought it was going to be a problem.I just like you, and i thought we could spend some time together other than lunch," " Really?" " Really," He chuckled. " Ok. Nick, i'd love to go with you to the movies sometimes." " Really? cause if you're just saying that to make me happy-" " I'm not. It'll be a nice change to catually go out on a date-" I stopped, covering my mouth. " What?" He asked. " I'm sorry," I said quietly, looking down. " I said date. This is just two friends... going to the movies. Sorry," " Heather you can say date," He laughed." It doesn't bother me," " I just don't wat you to think i'm thinking about some big commitment or something-" " Heather, it's the movies. Calm down. We have to be back to work soon, and you can't be hysterical. People are already talking about us," He joked. " What time is it?" I asked, hoping to chagne the subject. Nick glanced down at his watch, before looking back at me. " 12:45," " We should probably head back," I siad grabbing my soda can and standing up. A wave of lightheadedness washed over me and my legs weakened. Nick grabbed hold of my arm, stopping me from collapsing. " Heather, are you alright?" " I'm fine. I guess i just stood up too fast," I said leaning against him still, for support. " You sure?" " Nick, I'm fine. See?" I siad standing on my own two feet. " Come on, we don;t want to be late," *** " I hate movies like that," I laughed. " What's the point of sitting through a whole movie only to be just as confusedas you were going in? I swera that man's movies get wierder and weirder," " Are you saying you don't like Adam Sandler?" He saed as we strolled down the street. " No, I like Adam Sandler... I just didn;t like that movie I think he should stick to comedies," " Well maybe you should write him a letter," He joked. " It couldn't hurt," " I might just do that," I laughed. " Dear Mr. Sandler... You're movie sucked," Next Page
