Fuck you Dustin. Im not leaving her,

Whos in control here? I am. I have the gun, I have the power. I can make this a lot harder for you. Im willing to just let you walk out and never come back, but if you refuse Im afraid I will have to kill you, and Heather losing two Carter's in one day is a bit much, dont ya think? Ill just tell her you couldnt deal with the responsibility of a kid and you left,

She knows Id never do that-

But youll beat her up?! Come on, Nick. We all know the kind of person you are, why dont you just face up to it,

Why cant you just face up to the fact that she doesnt love you,

Because she did love me. She loved me long before you came into the picture, and shell love me long after youre gone, now get up, He said waving the gun in front of Nick. Now,

If I go, you promise youll take her to the hospital,

 Yeah, He shrugged. Whatever,

Im not leaving until you promise me-

Alright! Alright. Ill take her, and Ill even pretend to care, He smiled.

Nick gently removed Heather from his arms, feeling her stir slightly. He stood and pointed behind Dustin. I have a bag upstairs. Can I go get it?

Sure, but dont take long I have to get Heather to the hospital remember?

Nick walked past Dustin and back up the steps. Dustin knelt down and brushed away some of Heathers hair from her face. This is for the best, baby. He whispered. We cant trust Nick, so Ill take care of him, and then there will be nothing stopping us,

Dustin stood again and headed up the stairs. He looked into Heathers bedroom, where Nick was closing up his bag. He opened the door slowly and held up the gun. All he had to do was pull the trigger, but he hesitated. He wanted to look into Nicks eyes one last time. He wanted to see the terror, and the pain. He wanted the last thing for Nick to see was the man that would take his place. He smiled, and stood there waiting for Nick to turn around. When he did, he wasnt nearly as terrified as hed hoped he would be. In fact he just stood there, not speaking. Dont you have any last words?

No. Except I called the police and theyre on their way as we speak. When they get here and find me dead and heather on the floor downstairs, and you holding a gun, what do you thinks gonna happen then?

You didnt have time to call the police,

Yes I did. What can I say I have fast fingers, maybe thats why Heather loves me, He smirked.

Wrong. Thats why Heather loved you, He said, pulling the trigger on the gun.

A loud bang shot through the house, and seconds later it was deadly silent. The smell of gunpowder filled the room. Dustin smiled, So I never went to target practice, He laughed. Nick looked up, and back at the bullet hole in the wall just behind him. Like I said, Im better at cutting brake lines. Dont worry I wont miss this time,

That makes me fill so much better,

I thought it would. Now, hold still, and Ill get it right,

Another shot rang through the house seconds later and Nick stumbled backwards, sliding down the wall. Holding his hand over his chest he watched as Dustin dropped the gun, and fell to his knees, Heather standing behind him, holding the smoking gun. She stood there trembling, afraid to move. Nick, She said barely above a whisper. He quickly stood and went over to her, removing the gun from her hands. Dustins on the floor, She said.

 I know,

What are we going to do?! I just shot him! Hes on my floor- She said, beginning to panic.

Okay, first of all we need to call the police-

Nick, we cant, theyll take us to jail.

No, he was going to kill me, see? Hes still holding his gun, and theres a bullet hole in the wall-

Nick, we cant go to jail, this isnt our fault, She cried.

Honey, were not going to go to jail, but we have to call the police. Theres no way were going to keep this a secret. You have to trust me on this. We have to call the police,
