| Heather dropped her keys on the dining room table. Nick was behind her, still not speaking to her. It had been three days and still nothing. After dinner last night, Heather had given up. He was going to have to make the first move. I have to be at the studio in fifteen minutes so I wont be here for lunch, She said making her way into the kitchen. Nick said nothing only went and sat at the table, Orbi, immediately jumping in his lap. I got you a present today, He said. What? She asked stepping out of the kitchen. I said I got you a present, So youre not speaking to me, but you buy me gifts- Im speaking to you now, He said. Do you want it? No, I dont. Too bad, He said reaching into his pocket and sliding it across the table. Heather picked up the object. She held the small black box in her hand. A pager? You got me a pager? You needed one, This isnt a gift, Nick. Thats where youre wrong. I got one too. That way Ill always know where you are and youll always know where I am- I dont care where you are! She said throwing the pager back at him. What he hell is your problem?! I stay out late one night and now your keeping tabs on me?! Heather- This get from bad to worse! Im not carrying around a fucking pager because youre insecure- Im insecure?! He yelled standing up, knocking the dog to he floor in the process. This isnt about me! Im not the one partying until all hours of the morning, Im not he one who completely forgot that I had a fiance who was waiting for me, I told you I was going to be late. And you said okay, I said okay to a couple hours. I didnt say you could stay out all night- I wasnt out all night, You were out all night. And you didnt even have the decency to call me and say youd be out later, So youre angry because I didnt call you. Im angry because you continually take advantage of me. You just know Im going to be here all the time- Because you are! Why dont you go out and get a job or something! And when was the last time you went to class? Jesus, youre here 24-7. I cant stay at home all day and night just to cater to your ego! If you hadnt noticed, I have a career. I have a life. Without you, She said grabbing her keys from the table and running out the door. ~ If happy little blue birds fly, beyond the rainbow why , oh why cant I? Heather sang into the microphone. Great, Heath. Tay said over the intercom. You wanna run through it one more time? Can we take ten? She asked. You got it, Thanks. Tay signaled through the glass that hed be back and left the studio. She took a sip from the water bottle next to her and quickly took a seat on the stool, reading over some sheets of music. She didnt hear him come in the room, until he spoke. You forgot your pager, He said. She spun around and stood. Get out, She said softly. I have nothing to say- But I have something to say to you. He interrupted. Dont you ever walk out on me like that again. I love you, but Ill kill you before you ever disrespect me like that. Now, You forgot your pager, and I was absolutely sure youd need it. Am I right? He asked coldly. Heather didnt know what to say. This wasnt Nick. Once again hed transformed himself into this monster, with cold, hard unfeeling eyes, and very violent nature. Whyd Tay have to leave? Tay was gone and Nick blocked the only exit. She felt sick to her stomach. Something was different this time. She felt as if she didnt get out of there Nick would seriously hurt her. She looked down at her watch. 8 minutes to go. Damn. Heather? He asked again stepping closer. Her heart started to beat double time, the closer he got. He grabbed her hand roughly causing her to cry softly. Nick let go, She cried. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the pager sitting it in the palm of her hand. When I page you, you better fucking answer. Got it? To afraid to speak, Heather nodded but upset Nick, causing him to squeeze her hand harder. Answer me, Yes, She said weakly. Dont piss me off, Heather, He whispered. You dont want to do that, No, She said, waiting for him to release his grip on her. Im sorry, She whispered, tears freely rolling down her face. Nick cocked his head to the side and reached up gently wiping the ears away with his free hand. Dont cry, baby. Heather nodded again and he smiled softly. Ill make dinner tonight, He kissed her forehead and stepped back, disappearing into the shadows as quickly as he came.
