Chapter 0: A Quasi-Introduction

Professor Ranium, well-known Villagedale scientist, spends most of his time in a lab: either at Villagedale University where he teaches and leads several important lab classes which have saved many lives with their innovations, or at his home lab, where he just works on experiments that are interesting to him. Although his idea of a fun time is usually in mixing together chemicals, occasionally he spends the weekend at his second cousin’s house.

His second cousin lives in Townsville: if you haven’t guessed it, Professor Ranium is related to Professor Utonium, the one and only creator of the Powerpuff Girls. Growing up near each other, Ranium and Utonium had not been the best of friends; Utonium was actually a troublemaker for many of his early years, while Ranium was studious. But after some sort of encounter, Utonium became tireless in his own pursuit of science, and their mutual interests made them great friends in the long run.

So when Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup came on the scene, they were introduced to “Uncle” Ranium, since he and Utonium had become like brothers. And whenever he stays a night at the Utonium household, Ranium has the best time of his life, playing Chess with Blossom, drawing art with Bubbles, and shooting hoops with Buttercup. Then he returns home to Villagedale alone, to pick up whatever he had left behind. Sometimes he wished he too could know the joys of having a kid around the house, but he had to face reality that no woman would ever be interested in his scientific ways. And so he continued working for the troubled city of Villagedale.
