Circular letter from Local Government Board No 100 M/85 forwarding copy of the Parliamentary Registration (Ireland) Act 1885 48 Vic Chap 17

Read letter from Mr Peter Lavelle, Relieving Officer dated 27 th May 1885 reporting that an eviction had taken place in the townland of Meelan, Dooega Electoral Division on Monday 25 th instant and that he got no notice thereof but that he visited the place on the same evening and found no persons about the premises.

The Guardian Solicitor to be instructed to institute proceedings under the 11 & 12 Vic Cap 47 Sec 6

Read letter from Mr James Conway , Poor rate Collector dated 28 th May 1885 asking instructions to proceed against several immediate lessors for amount of Poor Rate due by them.

“Minute”

The Guardians solicitor to apply for payment and in default legal proceedings to be taken.

“Resolved”

That Mr James Conway be authorized to take proceedings for payment of the Poor Rate to the Quarter Sessions. Guardians not to be liable for any expenses.

Read letter from Dr Davis Medical Officer of Health Newport Dispensary District dated 29 th May 1885 stating that fever of a mild type has broken out in several townlands. Three or four deaths have already occurred. Also drawing attention to the filthy condition of parts of Lettermaghera Village, cess pools collections of offensive matter exist and recommending that the village be looked after.

Clerk to write to the managers of the Treanbeg and Derrada National Schools requesting them to close the schools for one month.
