The abstract of the Outdoor relief lists was produced by the Clerk having been duly entered up by him for the last week ended Saturday the 18 th day of July 1885 whereby it appeared that in that week the total expenditure in outdoor relief was

Requirements of each Relieving Officer

The Master reports that he requires to have the following articles of clothing condemned viz:

35 Blankets, 53 sheets, 30 ticks, 30 women’s petticoats, 48 women’s gowns, 39 women’s shifts, 44 men’s shirts, 50 girls frocks, 42 girls bibs, 15 boys shirts, 23 men’s stockings, 26 boys stockings, 30 girls stockings, 25 women’s stockings, 9 men’s coats, 12 vests, 16 trousers, 18 boys coats, 18 vests, 18 trousers, 20 men’s shoes, 28 women’ shoes, 26 boys clogs, 7 girls clogs.

One half of the above to be condemned

Resolved that the tender of Mr James Malley of Derrykell be accepted for the grass growing on workhouse grounds at seven pounds six shillings. (£7 6 0)

Resolved That Mr M J Kelly the Boards solicitor be requested to attend the Petty Sessions at Newport on Tuesday the 4 th proximo in the case of the guardians v E Ryan, the porter, which stands adjourned from the last court day.

Newport Dispensary District

378 Account of Dr Davis for Registration £2 17 6

Reports form P containing the names of children born in the District who are over three months of age and have not been vaccinated from the medical officers of the following Dispensary districts.

Dr Croly Achill Dispensary District containing the names of 37 defaulters and recommending that some steps be taken to enforce the regular attendance of the children.

Relieving Officer to serve the usual notices and Medical officers recommendation to be carried out.

Read letter from R Vesey Stoney Esq DL Rosturk Castle dated 24 th July 1885 complaining that no sanitary measures whatever have yet been adopted in the Newport West Division.

Read report from Dr Croly , Medical officer of Health, Achill Dispensary District, dated 21 st July 1885 stating that the sanitary state of the district continues satisfactory.

Read report from John O’Donell Sanitary Sub Officer dated 17 th July 1885 stating that he visited the several townlands in my district and that the sanitary condition of same is very satisfactory and that he visited the Newport West Electoral Division on the 13 instant when some of the poorer classes demanded that they should be supplied with lime for whitewashing purposes which accounts for the delay.
