The Master reports that one of the pauper boys discovered the Porter coming out of the boardroom window and that on examination of the Boardroom he found that all the sample articles were stolen with the exception of a few and that having got two dozen of room paper in his possession which was along with the samples that the following morning he had an information made before a magistrate and the porter placed under arrest and that he was obliged to place a pauper boy in charge of the gate as the porter was under the influence of drink when he returned to the workhouse at half past nine o’clock p.m. when he took up the keys from him.

Resolved that the Porter be suspended pending trial at Petty Sessions on Tuesday week.
Grass growing on workhouse grounds to be advertised for sale. Tenders to be considered on this day week.
Read letter from Local Government Board No 23959 dated 9 th July 1885 stating that they received the report of their Inspector Dr Todd relating to his recent inspection of the Achill No. 2 Dispensary District in which he refers to certain irregularities.

Read report from Dr Davis Medical Officer of Health, Newport Dispensary District dated 7 th July 1885 stating the gullet under Quay Road at Mrs Kavanagh’s appears to be obstructed causing regurgitation and escape of poisonous gases impervious to the health of the inhabitants of the Quay House.
