The Master reports that the Coal is just out , and that a woman named Sarah Murphy has applied for a suit of clothes for herself and two children that they may take their discharge.

The Master to ascertain if Mr Carey will supply coal at last years contract price 17/- per ton to 29 th September next. Clothing allowed

Proposed by Mr Edwin Thomas, seconded by Mr Patrick Sweeney and Resolved that Sir George C. O’Donell be re-elected Chairman of the board for the ensuing year.

Proposed by Mr Patrick Sweeney seconded by Mr Hugh Dever and resolved that R Vesey Stoney be re-elected Vice Chairman for the ensuing year.

Proposed by mr Edwin Thomas, seconded by John McManamon that John Curran be elected deputy Vice Chairman for the ensuing year.

Read letter from the Local Government Board No 10506 dated 28 th March 1885 expressing their sanction to the payment of the sum of £30 to the clerk as remuneration for his services in connection with Seed supply (Ireland) Act

Read letter from the Local Government Board No 10,341 dated 2 nd April 1885 transmitting to be laid before the Board of Guardians copies of the correspondence relating to the language used by the Clerk of the Union with respect to the Chairman of the board of Guardians of the Westport Union and requesting to be furnished with the Guardians observations on the subject.

Resolved that the board of Guardians consider that it is an entirely private matter and that they have no right to interfere.

Resolved that Mr Thomas O’Boyle , Mr Hugh Dever and Mr Patrick Moran together with the Chairman, Vice Chairman and Deputy Vice Chairman be appointed as Finance Committee for the ensuing year.

Resolved that the following be appointed Wardens in the Newport Dispensary district Rev P Grealy, Rev J McHale, Rev W P Coen, Rev S Johnston, Rev G S Keegan and Joseph Moran.

Resolved that the first meeting of the Committee of Management of The Achill Dispensary District be held at the Court House, Achill Sound on Friday 24 th April 1885 at one o’clock p.m.

Resolved that the first Meeting of the Committee of Management of the Newport Dispensary District be held at the boardroom , Newport Workhouse on Friday 17 th April 1885 at one o’clock p.m.

Reports Form P containing the names of children born in the District who are over three months of age and have not been vaccinated from the Medical Officers of the following districts viz.

Dr Smith Ballycroy District containing the names of 19 defaulters were laid before the Board and directions given therein as follows.

Relieving Officers to serve the usual notices.

Copy of minutes of proceedings of the Committee of Management of the Ballycroy portion of the Achill Dispensary District at a meeting held at Ballycroy Dispensary on 31 st March 1885.

Examined Dr Smith’s books and found same correct. Dr Smith informs us that the sanitary condition of his district is fair.

Ballycroy Dr Smith Sanitary state of District fair. Health of district good.

Read report from Dr Davis, Medical Officer of health, Newport Dispensary District dated 3 rd April 1885 stating the health of the District continues satisfactory and complaining of the very offensive sate of the porchway in Castlebar Street in the town of Newport.

Sanitary sub officer’s attention to be called to it.
