Calling for a return of the rated tenements in the Union on the 1 st January 1850 distinguishing those that may belong to different constituencies or Parliamentary boroughs , the total valuation of the rateable property in the Union. Also the number of rated tenements of the annual value of £20 and upwards, £25, £30, £40, and £50 and upwards.

Expressing the Commissioners sanction of the arrangements proposed for obtaining a contractor for the fitting up of buildings which have been taken for auxiliary workhouses at Seamount and Melcomb.

Acknowledging the receipt of answers to the questions respecting Mr Martin Coffee who had been appointed to revalue the Rateable property in the Newport Union and expressing the Commissioners sanction of his appointment.

Requiring to know if any letters addressed to the Clerk of Newport Union dated 16 th ultimo did not reach until after the 19 th.
The cases of provisional relief and applications for relief were considered and decided on as set forth in the Application and Report books.
The number of provisional admissions to workhouse confirmed was 27
The number of applicants admitted to the workhouse was 143
The number of cases of provisional outdoor relief was 127
The number of cases in which relief was continued by the Guardians was 75
The number of other applicants in the Relieving Officers Books relieved by order of Guardians was 127
The number of applicants for which relief was not ordered 85
Resolved That Mr and Mrs Johnson be appointed Master and Matron of the Newport Union Workhouse. The Master to receive a salary of £30 per annum with apartments and rations, the Matron to receive a salary of a salary of £15 per annum with apartments and rations.
Resolved That James Davis Esq. Be appointed Medical Officer at a salary of £30 per annum.
Resolved. That the tender of Richard Creeth and Co. to supply Rye-Meal for the Out Door Relief of the Newport Union for three months from 28 th inst. be accepted at the following prices viz.
Delivered at Newport at £6 10 0 per ton.
Delivered at Achill at £6 14 0 per ton.
Delivered at Ballycroy at £6 14 0 per ton.
Resolved That Mr Glenvilles Tender to make the necessary alterations at Seamount and Melcomb according to plan and specifications furnished by him amounting to one hundred and ninety pounds be accepted providing no charge be made for said Plan and Specification . The work to completed in six weeks from this date.
Resolved. That the Tender of Thomas McManmon to distribute Meal for the Out Door Relief at Newport for three months from 28 th inst. at 3/6 per ton be accepted.
Ordered. That the meal to persons receiving out door relief be in future issued every Friday and that the issue commence at each Depot punctually at the hour of eleven o’clock in the forenoon.
Further that no meal be issued by the Relieving officers to any but the head of the family except in cases where the head of the family shall be unable to attend from sickness or infirmity as ascertained by personal inspection and enquiry by the relieving officers. When the meal is to be issued to a member of the family selected by the Relieving Officer himself.
The Reliving officers are further required to note on their weekly diaries the description and quantity of the meal issued and whither it is equal or not to the sample also to insert the particulars of any irregularities in the issue.
Relieving officers will be held responsible for the execution of these instructions which are to be communicated to them forthwith by the Clerk , and the contractor of the supply of meal as well as the distributor will also be made acquainted therewith.
Relieving Officers are required to furnish their weekly diaries with punctuality in future.
