That the Clerk write to the several merchants in Newport and Westport stating that proposals for the supplying and carrying of Rye meal , Barley meal and Indian Meal to the persons receiving outdoor relief in the Several Electoral Divisions of the Newport Union for four weeks commencing 29 th October at per ton. Will be considered at a meeting of the Ex Officio Guardians on Monday 29 th inst. If the tender be for supplying it should state whether the meal is to be delivered to Westport or Newport.

Proposals to be addressed to the Clerk of the Newport union at Newport on Saturday the 27 th inst. at latest endorsed Tenders for the supplying of meal accompanied by samples of not less than 2 lb. weight.

Ordered. That the Clerk post notices at Newport that the Ex Officio Guardians will on Monday 29 th inst. consider proposals for carrying of provisions from Westport or Newport to the several districts in the Newport Union for four weeks from 29 th inst.

Resolved that the National Bank of Ireland at Westport be requested to Act as Treasurers to the Newport Union.

Ordered. That the following books be sent for to Mr Thom viz.

1 Administration and discharge book.

1 Record of Births.

1 Weekly Relief list and half yearly abstract.

4 Provision distribution books.

Ordered. That the following forms be printed at Westport.

100 returns of destitute persons relieved out of workhouse.

100 Weekly estimate of provisions.

100 Distribution returns.

100 Outdoor relief orders.

Ordered. That the Clerk get sixteen hundreds of meal for the Achill District for the present week and hand over same to the Relieving Officer. The mela to be had if possible at the Westport contract price.

Ordered Tat the Relieving Officer of the Newport district attend on Thursday next to hold a revision of the Outdoor Relief lists.

Next meeting of the guardians to be held on Monday the 29 th day of October 1849.
