There are lies, damned lies, and homepages (Appolgies to Disraeli)

What's to tell? If I say too much, the whole anonymous thing is in the toilet, and I if say too little, well, then what's the point of a home page.

I'm a native Californian, although I was born overseas (both my parents were born in the state, so I've been granted citizenship). A product of the California state school system, K though Ph.D. Yea, I got a Ph.D., so what. In Chemistry no less.

I grew up in the suburbs south of San Francisco. I went to a major UC for my undergraduate studies. Orignially I wanted to be a vet, but first, I faint at the sight of blood, and second I discovered I liked chemistry. In order to stay sane while taking all those mind bending courses, I stayed with theater as long as I could. I rowed in college, and loved it. I had trashed a knee in high school and it was one of the few sports that I could do.

Grad school was also at UC. I did my thesis in an area called Marine Natural Products. So a couple of times each year we went out collecting. Everywhere from Coos Bay on the Oregon coast to the Kingdom of Tonga in the South Pacific. Very interesting, lots of fun, but not directly marketable. A lot of the techniques I learned in grad school were, thankfully, quite marketable. So I got a job.

I started in contract research, then moved to semiconductors and now I work for a large aerospace company. I tell my friends that I am the Rocket Scientist that everyone else thinks you don't need to be. Well, it's funny when I say it in person.
