Mehndi is an ancient tradition of body art that dates back thousands of years, using a paste made from the crushed leaves of the Henna plant (lawsonia inermis). I use a premixed paste called Mehndi MUD. This paste is then applied to make designs on the top layer of skin, creating a gorgeous red-brown stain which then fades as the skin exfoliates. There are no needles and no pain. (Note: Those with very sensitive skin may react to the eucalyptus oil in the paste, however it is cosmetic grade and this is very rare.) These designs generally last between 1-3 weeks, with proper care, depending on the area the design is applied to. The traditional and best areas are the hands and feet, especially the palms and soles. These areas can last up to 3 weeks depending on the amount of exposure to water, chemicals and other elements that speed the exfoliation process.
Henna is a wonderful way to decorate the body without the long term commitment and pain of tattoos.
