Ron's Bio
Ron Phillips, decended from early pioneer stock in the Pecos country, the Barkers who homesteaded there in the late 1800's. His father's father John Isaac Philipps also settled there with his family & wife Mattie after traveling the west as a photographer. The rest of his family were writers, educators, ranchers, and rangers, most of whom had the pleasure of knowing firsthand due to their long full lives. The tales of their lives at "Buelah and Buelacito" on the Sapello River, combined with his own travels over 50 plus years in the Rockies, gives him a special reverance for the people and the cultures that make this land "Enchanting"
Ron, took art lessions at the age of 9, from Mrs. Apppleby in Clovis, N.M. in exchange for his odd jobs. He's since studied with Famous Artists Schools, Univ. of N.M. , Southwest School of Art, and New Mexico Art League Workshops.
His works have been marketed by Pueblo Arts, Inc., Trail West Gallery (Albuquerque, NM and San Antonio, TX), the New Mexico Art League, Grace Gallery and many others. He also published the "Travelling Man's Sketchbook of Old Town" (Albuquerque), with his poems and sketches. and has published the "Travelling Man's Sketchbook of Wyatt Earp, composed while being on the set.
