Question, Why do Low Budget Films Pay Better Than High Budget Films? Listed below are rates from various films. The top rate is from a high budget film and the bottom rate is from a low budget film. You can make the same wage working at a fast food place with less hours on the job. We also have to pay higher gas prices. I have been hearing many questions lately reguarding this issue and I am asking for your feedback. Is it time to form a background actor union? |
In the motion picture industry there are many unions protecting individuals working in the various crafts. The Screen Actors Guild protects actor and provides safe working conditions and a good living wage. IATSE provides the same benefits for crew members working on a film. The Teamsters Union provides coverage for truckers that transport equipment. Wranglers are also provided with union protection. The only employees on a set that are not provided with union protection are the background actors (movie extras)? |
