Gender: male
Rank/Position: apprentice biochemist; in master's studies.
Age: 24
Birthplace: First Centauri

Physical Description: Of a little taller than average height, at 5'11, and a rather slight build. It's obvious he's not one for exerting too much physical energy, and would rather be sitting in a lab somewhere. His racial background is a mix of African, Asian, and quite possibly South American, as well as hints of other mixed genes. He's naturally dark-skinned, and has very fine-boned features; high cheekbones, large eyes, long-fingered hands. He keeps his furiously curly hair cropped as short as he can, in order to keep it in some semblance of neatness. Perhaps the most catching of his features are his eyes; they're a stunningly bright cobalt blue, and tend to hold a constantly serious look. They sit behind a pair of small, oval-shaped glasses that have thin metal frames. Marc dresses with impeccable care, usually in slacks and a shirt of darker tones. All in all, he tends to look severe, if a bit snobbish.

Personality: If he could be summed up in a word, Marcus would be analytical. He studies, examines, tries to figure out how it works. He tends to take a scientists view of everything; that is, he prefers to sit back and watch rather than become involved with it himself. He has somewhat of a superiority complex, and often takes charge of his work with bravado. Marcs personal life is pretty non-existent. If he should find someone he likes, he asks her on a date. If it progresses further than dating, then he keeps with it. His work is first and foremost to him, though, and he wont hesitate to let a poor, disillusioned girl know it, too. And it will be a girl; he does _not_ date men, nor does he approve of same sex couples.

His views on the Dragon Project have always been cut-and-dried; hes all for it, and sincerely hopes the Project succeeds. That is, as long as hes not the one expected to be bonded to one of the beasties. Marcus doesnt even really like fire-lizards; the thought of having a sentient being attached to some inner part of his mind, to be honest, creeps him out.

Background: Born on First Centauri, to a fairly well to do family, Marcus had an easy life growing up. His parents had a picture-perfect marriage, which in turn, spilled over to him having the best of everything; clothes, education, future. Of course, when his father decided to go to Pern, his mother was less than pleased. Why leave something so wonderful to settle some backwater planet? Unfortunately for her, Thomas was not easily dissuaded, and took the ship. He also took Marcus.

Marc was a little bitter at first, and decidedly not very happy about leaving his comfortable home for the hardships of the colony. He had very few of the luxeries he was used to. Despite this, he gradually learned to cope, and life became bearable again, and even quite enjoyable. Of course, after eight years of this peaceful life, Thread fell and tossed everything to the wind. He and his father were not among those who decided to go north, believeing that the Project would succeed. Thomas was even eager to see his son Impress one of the dragons; Marcus, however, was less than enthusiastic about it, and crushed that little notion as quickly as possible. He would support the Project, but wanted very little to do with it himself.

Instead, he threw himself into his studies, and women, and has been living life much the same way as he did before. Though Marc detests being stuck on ground crews when Thread falls, he's decided it's a far cry better than having to be on one of those sleds. Or worse...bonded to one of the dragons, and expected to fight Thread when they get old enough. As long as it's someone else up there, though, he could really care less.

Hobbies & Skills: Marcus isnt really a hobby-type guy. If he has any free time at all, its accidental; he tries to keep himself fairly occupied, to avoid boredom.

If your persona were a song, the title:

Pets: none; the idea of impressing a little flying lizard wasnt something he was particularly thrilled with, and the furry companions were, in fact, _too_ furry; they shed everywhere.
