Physical Description: Malloren�s appearance does not match her ruthless personality. On the outside, she appears to be a jolly middle-aged woman, which she has used to her advantage in rallying supporters and rising to power. She is short, 5�3�, and was plump until recently when even she suffered from the lack of food available in the north. She has curly, dark brown hair she keeps conveniently short and close to her head. Her wide, brown eyes look innocent and friendly.

Personality: Malloren is the kind of person who puts on a sweet smile, but deep down is a ruthless cutthroat. She also very immature and throws tantrums when things don�t go her way. Usually her tantrums consist of being physically violent towards others to make �examples�, so many fear her drastic moods changes that have increased in recent years as her body moved towards menopause.

Background: Malloren was born to a pair of free-loving pacifists who were hiding out in a remote Alaskan village to escape the war draft. Originally named Daffodil Morgan, Malloren loathed her name and had it legally changed as soon as she was old enough. Malloren�s parents soon split after she was born and she fell into the care of her mother. An irresponsible woman, she�d leave her daughter with relatives and disappear for long periods of time. She spent most of her childhood with an elderly aunt that lived in Antarctica. Malloren enlisted in the military as soon as she finished high school. She didn�t want to be a coward like her birth parents.

Malloren adjusted well to life in the military. She rose through the ranks and by the time she was in her mid-thirties she was the captain of her own ship. Malloren was dishonorably discharged a few years later when her order led to the destruction of innocent Aquarii civilians�a race she never held in high esteem�in an attempt to isolate a group of Nathi. Malloren felt the sacrifice was necessary to make, but the FSP felt otherwise. As the war ended, Malloren rallied many supporters who saw her as a hero and felt the sacrifice she made was necessary. The FSP, in an attempt to quiet protestors, bargained with Malloren. She could be a charterer on the Pern expedition. In return, she would keep quiet until the colony left. Although Malloren had never married, she gave birth to a son and a daughter a few years before leaving for Pern.

Malloren settled into live on Pern with little difficulties. She had her own farm on the western reaches of the continent but remained involved in colony politics. She had three more children, all from different anonymous fathers, after arriving on Pern. She was a strict mother and forced them to do an unreasonable amount of chores around the farm from an early age.

Malloren�s land was not hit by one of the early falls, so her family escaped the horrors of Thread. However, her land and home were destroyed in a later fall. She became an avid support of the move north. When the split happened, she packed up her family and left Landing without so much as a goodbye. However, her oldest son, Cody, refused to leave.

Malloren seized control of Cave Hold after the earthquake. When people started dying, she didn�t quite know how to handle things. She lost her youngest daughter that following winter, which pushed her over the edge to the fanatic that she is today.
