Name/Nicknames: Harrison Hawkright
Gender: Male
Rank/Position: Handyman
Age: 22
Birthplace: Seattle Washington Earth
Physical Description: Like most of the men in his family, Harrison is very
tall. Standing at 6'2, he's a very lithe looking man. Definitely more long,
than big. He wears his dirty brown hair long, twisted together in half
dreaded type things. He's definitely round-faced, and most of the time, he
has a five o'clock shadow. His eyes are a chocolate brown. Harrison tends to
slouch a lot, and as a result is developing rounded shoulders. When he
smiles, he shows white, but very crooked teeth. Some people find him ugly,
but some people do sense a very strong sense of beauty about him. Reactions
are mixed.
Personality: Harrison is a very quiet, very sensitive man. Mostly withdrawn
into himself, he is an outsider looking in on the world. When he does choose
to use his sense of humor, it's sick and crosses a lot of boundaries on what
would be considered polite. Just a taste on what goes on in his mind.
He never used to be like this. While Harrison had always been a sensitive,
mostly shy child, he was happy. Now he's conflicted and mostly confused with
his life.
Background: Born on Earth, Harrison's family lived the minimalist lifestyle.
He grew up the middle child with a ton of siblings to the right and left of
him. He was part of the little community that was his family, and he thrived
in it.
Most of his memories on Earth are shaded, as he came to live on Pern when he
was turning eleven. After fire lizards were discovered, he became obsessed
with finding and catching one (although he never did). After awhile, he gave
up on the idea completely.
When he got out of his primary schooling, Harrison took up a job as a
stableboy. He had always had a knack for riding horses, and planned this job
as a stepping stone for a career in animal husbandry.
He moved out of his own family's house, and into a shared room with one of
his favorite brothers, Ethan.
After a few months, Harrison found that he was attracted to another
stablehand, another boy. At first he was very confused and hid his feelings
from his family. The other boy, though, named Burt, had feelings as well and
soon they were going out in secret. Part of the reason was that Harrison was
afraid of what his nosy family would say, and the other part was he and Burt
enjoyed the secrecy. It made things exciting.
About a month into the relationship, he and Burt were in the wilds, having a
picnic when Harrison's brother, Ethan, stumbled upon them. The sitation was
awkward and while Ethan promised not to say anything about it to the rest of
the family, things were never the same.
And that's when Thread started to fall.
Harrison was lucky enough to be cleaning out some covered stables at the
time, and was able to watch the fall in relative safety. (It was a lucky
thing that the stable had plastic roofing).
Ethan was not so lucky, and was out in the wilds when thread fell. He never
came back home.
The loss hit the entire Hawkright family hard. Harrison himself was a little
more emotional and found it really difficult to cope. Things between himself
and Bert got strained, and they soon broke up.
These things, along with the general bad morale of the community got him in
a deep funk. He quit his job as a stable boy, before he was fired (because
he kept showing up late, or not at all) and currently works as sort of a
part time handyman around the community.
Soon, his parents realized that their son needed some help to deal with his
grief, and so they sent him to a psychologist. Harrison has been having
regular therapy sessions ever since.
When the dragon project came along, he found himself enthusiastic in a way
he hadn't been for a very long time. However, his psychologist nixed the
idea completely with the dragon project personnel because there was no way
Harrison was emotionally stable enough to handle being in a battle scenario
with Thread. While this was true, Harrison resented it, and started making
plans of his own.
He quit going to his first psychologist, and started up with another one. An
idea started to form in his head, and he worked more regularly for credits.
When he had enough, he bought a fire lizard egg from Sebastian, the local
lizard dealer.
The theory behind this was he was going to _show_ everyone that he could
impress and raise a lizard well. And the same could follow for a dragon.
His plan backfired on him when the egg he bought failed to hatch in time for
the next dragon hatching. Harrison was disappointed, but took a wild chance,
sneaking into the grounds with the true candidates.
It was there that Redrath found and impressed him.

Pets: One brown wild-type fire lizard called Nipper. Large for his color,
nipper is an eternally hyper little thing that loves nothing more than to be
in the middle of anything Harrison is currently doing.
Dragon's Name: Redrath
Age: Infant (hatched 12.3.11)
Color: Green
Physical Description: A vibrant color green, Redrath is a beauty for a
dragon. She's a bit on the small side, even as a hatchling. However, she is
sleek and fit. Most people who see her liken her to the dragon equivalent of
a terrier. She is small, but she is mighty.
Personality: Redrath is a natural warrior. Her first reaction to just about
everything new is to bite it and see if it bites back. And if it does, she'
ll kill it. Many a bug have died in this fashion. She doesn't go around
looking for a fight, but will never turn one down either. Completely
fearless, she also has visions of grander and has no idea how small for a
dragon she actually is. Even if someone pointed it out, she wouldn't believe
it.
