Physical Description: Claire is 5’3” tall and 140 pounds, with generous curves and an even more generous smile. She’s got long, wavy blonde hair and round, chocolate brown eyes. She’s got a decent alto singing voice and talks with an almost musical quality because of her almost non-existent accent. She’s always found in skirts or dresses, usually has on a floury apron, and is almost never seen without her “belt” that is made out of a piece of the O’Connor clan’s plaid.

Personality: Clair is full of energy, always bustling about. She has trouble sitting still and must always have something to keep her occupied. She’s not as good of a disciplinarian as her husband, but she’s just as likely to be found smiling or laughing. She can sing on pitch fairly well, however, she has no sense of rhythm. She thoroughly enjoys cooking and often creates her own recipes (especially since they’ve been on Pern), but is most happy baking deserts and ‘celebration’ food.

Background: She was born and raised in Dublin and has spent the majority of her life there. The only time she lived away from Dublin, prior to coming to Pern, was the few years she lived on Victor’s family farm before they had Garret. She came from a fairly affluent family and, while she never truly appreciated all the things she had because of it, she has managed fine since coming to Pern, enjoying her new life instead of thinking about all that she left behind. Garret O’Connor was their first born, followed quickly a year later by Chase. Deciding to take a short break, Aidan wasn’t born until two years later, and two years after that, Patrick was born, followed quickly a year later by their one and only daughter: Moira.

Their life was happy and going well when Victor and Claire got the opportunity to join a group of colonists heading for a new planet. After doing some research and asking some questions, Victor decided that it was a good opportunity for his family. Garret was 12, Chase 11, Aidan 9, Patrick 7, and Moira 6. All four boys were thrilled by the prospect, but Moira needed a great deal of encouragement. This did not deter Victor or Claire, who had come to love the idea, and when the colonists set off for Pern, her family was among them.

When they arrived on Pern, Claire immediately fell into her job as a cook, enjoying the time she spent with the other cooks and experimenting with all of the new flora and fauna available for recipes. She loves the fact that she can be part of this new world, helping everyone out by cooking for them, and yet still has the time to be with her family. She’s proud that all of her children have done their duty and applied to be Candidates, although she realizes that not all of them will get a dragon.

Hobbies/Skills: Her skills and her hobbies are the same: she’s a good cook and a good mother. She fills her time with these two things and doesn’t have much time for anything else. Pets: Kelly (green) and Frankie (cat) are Claire’s two pets out of the family “menagerie.” Kelly is a small green, dumb as a rock (which keeps her from being too curious), but loving and biddable. She doesn’t get into too much trouble as long as Claire is clear about what she wants her to do. Claire got her the same day the rest of their family got their flitters: when out on a picnic, they stumbled across a clutch that was hatching. They didn’t have much time to think so they all took an egg or two or three and didn’t stop to think about what it would be like to raise that many flitters in one household all at once. They managed and, after Kelly and the other’s were grown, Claire went out and got herself a cat.

Frankie is black with white ears, feet, and nose, as well as having a white tail tip. She tends to spend most of her time asleep or off on her own, but if Claire is taking some time to relax at home, Frankie can usually be found curled up on her lap. Kelly and Frankie don’t get along the best (often hissing and chirping at each other), but when they get sleepy, they usually curl up together and fall fast asleep.
