Physical Description: Cal�s looks betray her mixed racial heritage. Of mostly Asian descent, she has shoulder-length dark brown-black hair that is almost always in a ponytail and too-long bangs that are usually in her face. Her almond-shaped eyes are a surprising blue-green, and she has golden-brown skin that rarely burns. Of average height, about 5� 6�, Cal is well-muscled from all the time she spends swimming but her rounded tummy keeps her from having an athletic build. She�s small-breasted and considers herself rather plain.

Clothing is hard for her to choose. Given her choice, Cal would spend all her time in the ocean wearing little. When she does make an appearance on dry land she�s usually wearing baggy harem-type pants and loose peasant blouses, earth-toned or shades of blue, never anything that would draw attention to her.

Personality: Calline is quiet and reserved. Not shy, she prefers dealing with dolphins and other animals as opposed to people. She has difficulty opening up to people and therefore has had no serious relationships. At a gathering she will invariably be on the edge of the crowd, watching others interact and keeping to herself.

Calline does not like to be idle and has a hard time relaxing. She tries very hard to stay busy and will pitch in to help on almost any job as long as it does not involve too much interaction with other people. �Free time� is a curse to Cal and she spends most of it back in the water or on a quiet stretch of beach with her blue fire lizard, Azora. Though she loves working with dolphins, she has never �bonded� with a particular dolphin and that has been a major disappointment for her.

Background: Calline�s father, a sailor, and her mother, an agronomist, were eager to join the Pern colony and escape the increasingly overcrowded Terra. Calline, then a young teenager, was less enthusiastic. It was the promise of untouched, unpolluted oceans and the mentasynth-enhanced dolphins that won her over to the idea.

For Calline there was never any doubt of what she wanted to do with her life. She immediately apprenticed as a dolphineer, though she never formed that special bond with a particular dolphin as some of other apprentices did. The dolphins did, however, lead her to the newly-hatched fire lizard that was drowning, and she saved and Impressed blue Azora.

Her father was out at sea when the first Threadfall hit, and he and his crew were killed despite the efforts of the dolphins to save him. Her mother remarried a year later and went north with her new husband when the colonists split. Her sister and brother chose to take their chances in the north and were very upset with Calline when she chose to stay with the warmer waters of the south.

Hobbies & Skills: Calline is a strong swimmer and spends as much time as possible in the water. She has some knowledge of boats and ships since she often lent a hand on her father�s vessels. Personality: Efrath is a little lady, very delicate and deliberate in her manners. She is not overly outgoing or bold. She is very attatched to Calline and convinced that Cal is the most wonderful person in the world. Efrath is very neat, almost fastidious.
