Daphne Clem
I'm not sure if I know enough about Daphne yet to write a full bio for her
-- so you make sure to keep checking backk for updates as I learn more about
her!
I *do* know that she turned 18 last August, that
she's originally from Philedelphia, PA and that both she and her sister
Clover were put into foster care several years ago, for reasons I don't know
yet, because I do know that both of their parents are still alive. Daphne
and Clover were seperated, and they hadn't seen each other in seven years.
Daphne ditched foster care when she was 15, and she also lost her virginity
around the same time. She says she doesn't remember to who, but that
she did it for food. After a while, she met this guy named Blake who
she doesn't talk about all that much so I don't really know what they did
besides move around a lot, and have sex. He got her pregnant when she
was 16, and she has a daughter --
Ivy
. Daphne
says she wants nothing do with Ivy's dad now that she's found her niche in
the SC.
Over this past summer, Clover was put into the foster care home of another
SC employee, Ashrien (she was his first one since he got his foster parenting
license.) When Daphne found out, the two sisters were finally reunited.
Aww.
Sadly, though,
Clover and Daphne don't get along so great. They disagree a lot because
Clover is obsessed with boys and Daphne doesn't want Clover to repeat her
mistakes. Clover doesn't think she has anything to learn from Daphne
and ignores her a lot. Clover also isn't shy about saying she doesn't
agree with Daphne's conversion to Wicca/earth-paganism during the time they
were apart. I wish I could say that all they need is some good sister
bonding time and things will be like old times again and that when it comes
down to it they really do love each other -- but I honestly can’t say at
this point. :/
Clover still stays in contact with Ashrien though (which isn’t hard, they
live down the hall from him) and she often helps him with his garden, and
wants to start one of her own. She’s pretty peppy when she’s not with
Daphne, though. Her favorite things, besides flowers and gardening
and boys, include: comic books, The X-Files, and Starbucks coffee.
Clover is extremely moody, and takes it out a lot on her poor sister
Daphne tries to always be accommodating to Clover’s moods and I‘ve never
seen her get angry. She just always seems incredibly good-natured,
which surprises me. She’s pleasant to be around, and she’s gracious,
which *also* surprises me because I expected someone with her background
to have a lot of pride. I also expect someone like her to be fearful
and distrusting, but she chooses to believe in all people, and that doesn’t
seem to have hurt her. She’s also not secretive, or ashamed about her
past or the fact that she doesn‘t have much money and a lot of stuff.
She’s a sensualist who prefers to do things the slow way, and she doesn’t
like TV or computers or dishwashers or other newfangled contraptions.
Daphne also takes great pleasure in art, though she says she “can’t draw
a straight line.” When she first came to the SC, all she had was a
backpack and a purse. Nearly all of the furnishings in her apartment
were donated by Amarice, but Daphne did have quite a collection of art prints
and postcards, and the first thing she did when she moved in was hang them
around her first real home in seven years. After helping her Daphne
move in, Amarice asked Ashrien if he had any clothes that didn’t fit his
daughter anymore that he could give to Ivy, which he did (and also gave Daphne
a few outfits of his late wife’s, since she wasn’t going to be needing them
anymore) -- Daphne was so thankful to both of them, that she gave them
both hugs and said, “May whatever God or Goddess you believe in bless you
and keep you.”
