Grass Fed: Naturally finished meats. |

Talk about contented! | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
Grass Finishing is the most natural way to finish animals. We've found the cattle are most effective on just pasture. We raise Jerseys, purchased from a local dairy. At about 2 days old we bring them "home" and let a nurse cow raise them for next 4 months. Jersey's are fairly fragile as babies, and so we often find we have to medicate them during their first couple of months. During their first 6 months they do get grain - for proper early growth. Then they graduate to the organic pasture and "free grazing" for the next 18 months, needing no grain what-so-ever, from this point on. The steers are wormed Spring and Fall - the last worming being 6 months prior to butchering. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
