Grass Fed:
Naturally finished meats.
Talk about contented!
Grass Finishing is the most natural way to finish animals. We've found the cattle are most effective on just pasture. We raise Jerseys, purchased from a local dairy. At about 2 days old we bring them "home" and let a nurse cow raise them for next 4 months. Jersey's are fairly fragile as babies, and so we often find we have to medicate them during their first couple of months. During their first 6 months they do get grain - for proper early growth. Then they graduate to the organic pasture and "free grazing" for the next 18 months, needing no grain what-so-ever, from this point on. The steers are wormed Spring and Fall - the last worming being 6 months prior to butchering.
