JANUARY 27, 2008: The trade paperback Tales of the New Gods came out this week, reprinting a wealth of Fourth World material, as well as featuring a previously unpublished story penciled by the brilliant Steve Ditko. I was glad to add this to my collection. Also, Superman Confidential #10 is out, finishing the re-telling of Superman's first encounter with the New Gods. Check 'em out.

NOVEMBER 20, 2007: It's the beginning and the end. Superman Confidential #8 retells Superman's first meeting with the Forever People, and in the Death of the New Gods miniseries... well, the title is pretty self-explanatory. We'll be flying the Fourth World flags at half-mast soon enough.

JUNE 23, 2007: The young gods of Supertown boom tube over to Metropolis in Superman #663. And in Countdown: 48, a New God dies.

MAY 24, 2007: It's the battle of the Female Furies, as Big Barda vs Knockout in Birds of Prey #106. Meanwhile, over in Firestorm #35, we have appearances by Orion, Kalibak, Parademons, and the big bad of the Fourth World himself, Darkseid.

APRIL 8, 2007: The New Gods popped up in a few issues recently. I posted cover scans for Birds of Prey #104 and Justice League Unlimited #32, both out now. Also on the comic shop shelves are Hawkgirl #62 and Firestorm #35. Go get 'em.

MARCH 12, 2007: Went to the big NY comicon at the Javits Center last month. It was a lot of fun. I got some great artwork, including a Beautiful Dreamer sketch by Todd Nauck. Todd drew Beautiful Dreamer in a couple of issues of Young Justice several years back. I liked his cute, cartoony rendition of the character, and in the back of my mind I thought it would be nice to get a sketch of BD by him. Glad I had the opportunity.

There have been a few New Gods appearances in the pages of DC titles recently. The Female Furies pop up in Hawkgirl #61, written by Walter Simonson. I've really been enjoying Simonson's work on Hawkgirl, and he also wrote the definitive post-Kirby New Gods in the pages of Orion, so it's always good to see him pen Fourth World characters once again. The Furies also appear along with Mister Miracle and Orion in Firestorm #33, and Big Barda still keeping company with Oracle & friends in the most recent issues of Birds of Prey.
