I Love You But It Hurts Me

I love you but it hurts me so When I see you cry I wonder how I can bear this life And there's one thing I'd like you to know One day I'd like you to be my wife If I ever break your heart You can tear me through the ages For I have made the promise my intentions are pure And have written love poems on thousands of pages A woman of internal beauty has such a lure I love you but it hurts me To think I can't be as great as you are in my eyes And you know that I mean it and these are not lies That's just how well my sweetness you know me For the last brief year I have been lucky to know you But it's felt so long I wish I could show you To the one I love I give you the key to my heart For a lifetime I never want to be apart I love you but it hurts me whenever I leave your side To think that pain could come to you But from it we can't hide There is a light that I get from your soul In it I see eternity's love and truth With you I could walk the long mile
